AMD is expected to launch its Radeon RX 6700 XT performance-segment graphics card on March 18, 2021, according to French tech publication Cowcotland. This would put the launch over two weeks after NVIDIA's February 25 launch of the GeForce RTX 3060. The new RX 6700 series is expected to compete against the RTX 3060 series, and debuts the new 7 nm "Navi 22" silicon that's based on the RDNA2 architecture, and features 40 compute units (2,560 stream processors). The card comes with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit wide memory bus, much like the RTX 3060. Cowcotland expects availability of the RX 6700 XT to be "very limited" at launch. Who knew?

To be fair 6000 series GPU apparently have much lower hashrates than their Nvidia counterparts although I doubt it will make much difference. If there are prospects to make even one cent in profit these guy will buy them all.

Indeed, this is true, however, it is as you said, won't save them from scalpers and I am sure there will be some in mining rigs.

I am a very sour person at this point in time, I have been waiting for 3 years for this specific generation. Why so long you ask? Well, a very crap story, maybe I'll tell it one day if people are interested. :)

during the second mining boom when AMD GPU nowhere to be found they start buying nvidia GPU in drive as well. when miner even wiling to buy laptops with RTX3060 just so they can increase their mining farm hash rates i doubt they see an issue to buy AMD 6000 series even if the hash rates is a bit slower than nvidia ampere. this third mining craze is even more absurd than before. during the second mining craze i still can see some low end GPU on store shelves. right now not even lowly GT1030 available on my local pc store. they got tons of GT710 though

Oh, and before blaming the scalpers, why don't we blame the people who buy from them?

As long as the miner will benefit from buying it (card cost + costs of operation < profit), it will dissapear from the shelves.

Technically the 6700 die is smaller, so they could make more of them per 6800/6900 die. It all depended on how many wafers are located for GPUs.

I think reviewers should boycott launches and wait till nVidia and AMD start really tackle the availability issue.
Or, focus on mining performance and other tutorials to get the best performance in mining.
It's meaningless to review products no one can buy, the argument of reviewing now so when the cards are available doesn't hold water anymore.

Why ?

AMD and Nvidia are producing GPU as fast as they can. More people want them than they can produce it. Yeah miner suck but they aren't Nvidia an AMD fault.

This is the market, how it is. deal with it.

And what will you do, when you happen to see the card been sold somewhere, and you don't have any reviews on it?

Buy now, find out if it was worth it later...

Nvidia could literally put out a turd and it would sell out at this point.

The reason for buying nVidia cards during the 2017 mining drive was Equihash. They were initially less capable cards, but after they figured out how to work around the increased latencies of GDDR5X every Pascal card was fair game for Equihash mining.
