On the power consumption, I do not believe the average power consumption of 210W for a 6800XT. Sorry, I don't believe that. Especially when under the same testing the 3080 does ~300W.
why?

its really easy to figure out what the avg power draw of 6800 xt is, just go look at gamersnexus review, skip ahead to power draw section, do same for a few other youtubers, and you get an overall idea. of course it will vary some, but it might give you a better idea overall.
So you are telling me that, a GPU on THE SAME 7NM PROCESS, DOUBLE THE CORES, MORE FREQUENCY, MORE VRAM, MORE THAN DOUBLE THE TRANSISTORS will take LESS power than the original GPU? (6800XT vs 5700XT, 210W vs 219W)

EDIT: As for the Gamers Nexus reviews, I saw a difference of about 20W, not 100W.

I didn't tell you anything, I said go look at a wide variety of reviewers, and gather your average power draw from that. I'm rx 6800, so I already know my power draw will be quite nice, I never looked at XT.

Yeah it's also really easy to find the power consumption of the card by looking at TPU's own charts, and that is precisely why I am questioning it, because it really seems off. The media playback power consumption on the 6800XT is much higher than RTX 3080. Perhaps it was a typo, and it was 310W, and not 210? I straight up do not believe that 210W number for a card on the same 7nm process as the 5700XT, with more than double the FP32 performance, but uh, less power. Sorry. I don't believe that. That is too hard to believe.

Samsung 8nm vs TSMC 7nm - nah, not the same.

both 5700XT and 6800XT are on TSMC 7nm..?

I should have mentioned I was referring to Control which implements a lot more RTRT features and where it's slower than borth RTX 3070 and 2080 Ti.

Reviewers are showing that Control is somewhat bugged ATM, and it's one game to just dismiss it like that is a bit biased.

We can learn that 3070 < 6800XT = 3070Ti < 3080.
If more 2-slot 6800XTs release then it can replace 3080 for ITX builds.

For $50 less, you will have to sacrifice on RT performance. Not sure why Nvidia should be worried. 3080TI with slightly more cores and 20GB mem will walk all over 6800XT

I'm wondering if the liquid cooling (AIO or custom) is gonna bring something compared to the vapor chamber given that the Temps and noise are already great.

Lol, $50 does not matter much at this price point. You might as well pay $50 more for a superior RT performance.

incorrect, you buy whatever is in stock at this point cause we are looking at shortages well into 2021, possible even summer 2021. :rockout:

If you have the money to buy a 6800XT for $650 and get a card that can’t do RT of a $699 3080... what’s the logic ? Just trying to understand your logic. Coz I am a AMD fan but even I am not able to convince my self to buy 6800XT after looking at the RT performance and your response may help me see what I am missing..

In Jan 3080 20 GB with more cores will come out and 6800XT will be really underpowered in 2 months. Also I am concerned that 6800XT can only match 3070 when RT is enabled.. what’s your take away from it ?

You are right about the stock, but I still see no reason to buy 6800XT over 3080.

For just $50 more, you will get :

1) Better RT
2) DLSS
3) More stable drivers.
On top of that, a much better encoder (Ampere NVENC vs AMD's VCE), and proper monitor overclocking support :)

if you ever remember, could you please test whether the hw bug present on the 5700 series where PCM sound through HDMI will drop every ~minute for 1 second is still present in the 6000 series? this is a well know issue in the community, never address by AMD (prob due to a hw fault).

I didn't mention the encoder thing coz most are just pure gamers. Content creators, without a doubt, will pick Nvidia over AMD.

Sure, if you pull out some obscure game like that you can make AMD look good./s
It is not just one obscure game... in some titles it even beats the rtx 3090!!

I seriously have doubts about the benchmarks presented in techpowerup something must have gone wrong in some instances even the 6800 non xt beats the 6800 xt..... either drivers or hardware issue something going very off compared to what other reputable youtubechannels have benched

Cyberpunk 2077 looks awesome in trailers. I can't wait to see it in full ray tracing glory.
