What a fucking joke Navi 21 launch has been, AMD just set a new industry low.
Let's see if their mid December (AIBs at msrp) promise actually comes true.
I'm setting my expectations for Navi 22 very very VERY low (part I'm actually interested in).

Makes no sense. This reference designed boards have been the best reference design in at least a decade or more to come from AMD. So much so, that their most loyal suppliers, i.e., Sapphire have trouble showing considerable advantage of their non-reference NITRO boards.

For people confused about AMD selling their own reference cards: Yes, they do. It's where I bought my 6800 XT on launch day. They also sell their CPUs on the AMD.com store.

Oh yeah, I've had it for over 3 weeks now. A friend got that Red Team email and 3 of us used the link, and all 3 of us got one.

Yeah, it's great. Fast and quiet. I sat out last gen with my 1080 Ti so this is just about a 2x performance upgrade for me. I'm in heaven.

I'd need to get around 10 permits or so. And since there are no flights here unless you stow away on one of the Air Force' transports, that means either sharing a bus ride with some 30 people for around 30 hours or riding a car for more or less the same amount of hours :laugh:

Not that I mind waiting anyway. Gives time for the drivers to mature, for the kinks to be ironed out, and whenever I actually decide to go and buy, the market will have calmed down from this hype.
EDIT: Besides, I'm interested in hearing how it performs in Folding@Home

I have my 6800XT since three weeks but I did not buy it from AMD.
I like mine also very much.
I run original cooler at higher fan profile as I have mine set to 2550MHz@115mV undervolt and overclock so fan is loader.

I will receive my EK waterblock until Friday.

With my current setting the junction temperature hits often 95°C.
This will not be case with watercooler.
Let see if I can improve performance with water cooler.

I wanted reference card as I usually watercool my GPUs and not many non reference cards support that.

Many people like me will be disappointed to see reference card being discontinued so soon.

AMD has maintained a direct store (in the US at least) for reference designs since TeraScale 2. It did originally only contain partner branded cards, however since at least the Vega Frontier Edition they have had their own branded reference designs in their store. Radeon VII and Navi in particular were advertised more heavily as having a direct purchase option.

Thankfully, people made them realise they made a great product with a very good ref cooler that is needed in the market. Especially since AIBs want to increase prices by much over MSRPs.

Reference cards or AIBs, I'm not sure why anyone is irritated about the lack of AMD GPUs....the irritation should also be extended to Nvidia GPUs as well. I can't find any anywhere in my area.

My local MicroCenter doesn't have squat for GPUs. Except for the fact they're sitting on 25+ RTX 3070 cards.....in PowerSpec pre-built systems (according to their website). If you're really hard up for a RTX 3070 and are okay with spending $1800 on one, you can get your fill at my MicroCenter.

Huh, not like reference existed up here. Not only that, but even AIB ones are not really existent. We also have the problem that ones that are listed, are ridiculous in price. Gigabyte RX 6800 (non xt) is about $40 less than the cheapest RTX 3080....

Who actually makes these cards for AMD?
So why does AMD even bother making a small batch at all?
Rebadge an OEM card (HW & firmware ID) and send to reviewers. Or why not just have the OEM's send out their cards for reviews.
