in the end of the day, lisa su is the niece of jensen huang, all gpu is a family business :)

all the more reason all 3 companies are dumb to me. so might as well go with the best performers and retire from this hobby, silicon is about dead anyway. I don't have much faith in this new chiplet designs incoming

the fact AMD allowed such a conflict of interest with their main competitor, a relative CEO... says all I need to know about if I trust companies or not.

i trust none of them. therefore I will buy the best performer, and retire.

This is what happens when you bring a compute card to a gaming card fight.

There are really no surprises here.
AMD should have branded this their new "Frontier Edition", since this card has no chance as a pure gaming card.

I'm not sure about that. This is basically Vega 64 on steroids - it's the same architecture with better specs.

Implying what? That Vega 64 wasn't a huge failure?

Another overhyped product, reminds me of the hype preceding the launch of bulldozer, when will AMD learn?

In the meantime, we all lose, I said it in the announcement thread, AMD needs to get their shit together, competition is necessary in this market, as Nvidias inflated prices show.

Well, if AMD won’t compete, we can hope the falling stock value of Nvidia will for it to lower the prices for their cards, but I don’t have much hope in that.

Was 4 available in here in Norway at launch (checked 15:02) somebody has ordered one as there now is 3 available (not me btw).

Would guess that the Radeon 7 would boost nicely under water, but I don’t think there is a block for it yet?

Just watched a lot of YouTube review before this. It got a very broken driver where black screen and bad OC is very wide spread. Wondering if you guys encountered this???

guess my prediction that this is a minor flop from AMD is hitting reality too close to home. But, this isn't a gaming card anyways... for those who are doing rendering & simulation workflow, at least there's more option than picking the FirePro or Quadro, which are super expensive at the higher end spectrum.

That was probably their original plan but the RTX prices got them the chance to sell it as a gaming card.

we agree on this, but Lisa Su bragged about it being a gaming card... misleading. :/ I wonder if Lisa Su has any stocks in nvidia... cause Nvidia stocks have gone up a lot in last 3 days. i think 5-10% gain. lol

shady stuff imo when your Uncle is head of Nvidia and you just launched the only competing card.

Is anyone there responsible for overvolting card ? wish AMD releases new driver to do auto UV, damn 90w......
It's a common problem with AMD across the board, even their CPU's are unnecessarily overvolted.

Funny how almost half the chip is empty, the real size is 232 sq.mm if they drop the empty spaces and 2048 bit, since 4096 bit clearly doesn't benefit the card in any way. This is RX 590 sized chip, ~~299$.

I said it's not going to beat the 1080Ti, and well... there you go.
On Ultra High Quality, it actually does beat it.

Highly unlikely. It's not like this comes close to being competitive even with "RTX prices".
This card is the result of AMD needing to launch something, as Navi is facing delays.

You don't think it's because of the Boost Mode?

Nope, ran 100% stable. OC worked better than on 1st gen Vega, too.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
why people could
Do tell. Compute is the only reason I could come up with after seeing these results. Otherwise, its slower, uses a lot more power, and is quite noisey in this form. Remind me why I should pay the same money for less?
Nvidia does have a lot more chance at getting it right as it does like to release 20 of the same cards compared to AMD's one or two..
Sorry.. what?

@Super XP by a very small margin & at 4K with DX12 enabled. That is still not enough when you factor in how badly HBM v2's OCing ability.
@lynx29 that's an even more larger revelation for some, including me when i heard that Lisa's uncle IS THE CEO of Green Team.
