AMD Releases AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 Microcode to Motherboard Vendors and OEMs

I tried it a couple of times while it was in and out of beta. It’s “ok” but it clips performance on my 5900X too hard. Since I didn’t have any stutters I went back to an older AGESA. Probably good for 5800X3D and anyone who has any thermal issues.

StartAllBack fixes that along with a lot of other stuff that's broken in Windows 11 just like how similar software fixes the glaring issues on Windows 10.

I've been meaning to look more in depth at the third party software to modify the UI, especially those that modify the taskbar, but I don't think it should be necessary for small changes like the menus. I'm waiting for the first major patch to launch in a few months before I decide if I want to run it on my main system.

Tested this on my MSI ACE X570. worse ST performance by a decent margin, my 5950x just refuses to do 5ghz on this agesa, but going back to older version I can get 4 cores at 5.05 with the same settings??

TPM Stuttering still seemed present or some other issue causes games to stutter.

USB audio that was supposedly fixed in 1.2.0.2 is still broken 5 versions later, only fix is still to set pcie to 3.0.

This is honestly the worst CPU/Board purchase ive ever made, thanks AMD.

lol been doing bios flashes for like 25 years now I know to close all the windows and rub the magic 8 ball before I click on ok.

But i also remember doing them back in the day where it wasn't built into the bios and you have to download the correct tools to do so and there was less margin for error.

Goxlr mini. Its the only one I notice serious issues with but it's AWFUL watching a youtube video causes stuttering instantly.

Ive not had any stability related issues in any other situations, sure ive got PBO/XMP on but considering the same "fix" of disabling pcie4 on GPU is still working it seems like its still a hardware problem and not really an overclocking one. I could always test it with PBO/XMP off but even if that solves the audio issues that's less of a fix than pcie4->3 due to how much performance impact it would have. Either way AMD calimed it was fixed and overclocking shouldnt break it if thats the case :/

Seems to me, that this is a new release of 1.2.0.7 because of that V2 identifier. Might be, that this will cause another round of new BIOS releases if I read this correctly....

So I've had a BSOD and Forza Horizon 5 crashing on me since I've updated. Could be the heat as well though but I dunno. Can updates do this?

It could well be, but that's not something I can do much about other than pulling apart a full custom loop to do it and it would have to 100% work which I also cant test without a lot of effort.

The mini has had several updates none of them have ever mentioned or addressed the issue and as there's a decent sized community of people using it if it was a product issue im sure they would have been aware of it.

It still remains that the only fix that worked before AMD issued any BIOS updates was switching pcie4 to 3 and it's still the only way im solving the problem. I cant see it being anything but a hardware issue somewhere with AMD/x570/msi. For everything else it's almost flawless (because i dont use tpm and dont yet run w11), but its a pain.

In my B450 Tomahawk with a 3600X going from 1006 to 1207 i lost noticeable ST and MT performance according to cpu-z, games and benchmarks showed fps drops, went back to 1203 it is much closer to 1006, and support Zen3.

On the latest Agesa I get 15650 points on Cinebench23 and 672 single core on cpuz.

Rolling back to Agesa 1.2.0.3 I get 16030 and 692.

My guess is that newer agesas have security fixes that impact performance.

I reapplied my previous PBO settings when I went from 1.2.0.3 to 1.2.0.7 I haven't noticed a drop.

my two best cores still hit 5.05Ghz with PBO+ 200

As for EDC i've always had it at 140 so that isn't an issue for me.
