AMD Releases Beta Driver Specifically Geared for Blockchain Compute

We are seeing some areas that it wasn't the absolute best in. Memory controller performance being one. What is funny to me is AMD released a "flagship" card and it quite honestly looks to have the same issues. What is strange to me is it doesn't have the compute performance to pull out of the slump this time. I really question what goes through their heads sometimes. I was pretty excited for these cards. Thanks AMD.
In the end it was a fine card, very competitive, i still think 1060 is better, but it was super competitive no doubt, and was pretty good, polaris refresh wasn't that good for example.

Vega 64 has more support for DirectX12 features, hence it has some positives over GTX 1080.

That is probably the only one, since it came out a year and 3 months later, it's pretty reasonable if it has better support for DX12, but seen how badly the latter is implemented even in the latest games, i wouldn't see this as a big advantage at the moment, surely will age better, after all AMD cards do usually age better, but it's also because it's 15 months newer.

I had two of them in my gaming rig for a while. They had a good batch of issues...

With similar performance, there's pros and cons with both Vega 64 and GTX 1080.

No, polaris was fine, and wasn't anything you said.

One sentence, and I don't understant the word you wrote. If gamers expectation were in question, they were exactly as I said (right here, there were doomsayers for NV 10x0, 'Polaris would be better'). As for 10x0 launch, please try to remember the shortages, inflated prices - they were nearing 1,000 $/EUR. The moniker 'virtual GPU' for 1080, months after launch.

What I'm saying is that it's the same thing all the time.

Ehm, when NV 10x0s launched, they costed as they do now, didn't they? There was no FE edition, stab in the back to AIBs?

What 'gamer' expects is:
- AMD stuff is 10x0 (TI) killer, even on old games
- it cost much less than NV offering
- it also consume much less (sighs deeply) power, and cools the room in the summer and heats it in winter
- it actually poisons miners, so they buy zero cards
- it rewards gamers richly, by expensive gaming bundle

Oh, and all of it happens within 3-4 days (unlike 10x0 launch).

It's quite realistic expectation, I'd say.

What i was saying is that nobody asked anything even close to that, in fact Polaris was fine, and it didn't even come close to this list, what people is asking for, is competition, REAL competition, not the kind of "Ok, i'll lower the price on my objectively worse product, in order to align it with the competitor, price/performance wise" this is basically what AMD has done for its entire life, and look where it has gotten them.
Again, Polaris was priced roughly the same as 1060, and deserved all the money they asked for, not more, not less, that was just the right price.

You can't see far past your ego can you?

What ego? You little kids were screaming and kicking, well, like little kids. And then I bought GeForce. And you're all still kicking and screaming like little kids.

Some of the best highlights:

"You're an AMD fanboy!" Erm, no, I have GTX 980 and Intel CPU. It doesn't matter, you're an AMD fanboy!

Ok, so I've decided to buy GTX 1080Ti instead of RX Vega in the end. "Omg, that doesn't change anything, you're still AMD fanboy."

Gotta appreciate the hilarity when you posted "I might buy RX vega no matter what" in the recent past and people just skip the "might" part and get all butthurt when in the end you don't do that. "Might" doesn't mean "I will no matter what" lol. Also, it totally screws up your AMD fanboy narrative you keep on pushing on me no matter what I do and when everything goes against it, you just dismiss it with "it doens't matter" and keep on spweing out same nonsense that doesn't make any sense on any level.

It may seem like I'm all emotionally involved in this, but reading your idiocy like this actually makes my day better. It brings a smile on my face knowing there are actually people this silly out there.

It really is funny right?

The only AMD CPU I currently own is a Phenom II x3 (Those were great right?), but yet I am an AMD fanboy because I keep pointing out Skylake-X has lower IPC than Zen and the 7700K is only 5-10% better at gaming in 1080p than Ryzen lol.

Confirmed, AMD screwed the Win7x 64 Install Package Driver AGAIN... this is like the 4th time this year!! everyone is nagging these new Drivers are completely borked under Win7 x64, but working perfectly fine under Win10.

What i did just in case anyone has issues mining with win7 x64 was to fully install Relive 17.7.2, and after it was fully working i got the "Leaked Dag Fix Beta Drivers" that was posted several days before, and force those "Leaked" drivers through device manager over 17.7.2, then applied the AtikMDag Patch 1.4.5 provided by the same guy who leaked the Beta Beta Drivers and it is working fine, my Hashrate went from 24.4 Mh/s all the way back to 27.3 Mh/s.

Very weird too, because "Released" Beta version is 22.19.659.0 while previously "Leaked" version have 22.19.659.1 signature.

AMD must be hating on Win7 x64... i have a feeling they will abandon Win7 Drivers completely very soon.

Windows 10 is $20. Upgrade lol.

If your Windows 7 hardware profile is known to Microsoft already (has been online activated), should be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free yet.

I stand by what I said. You kicking and screaming about whatever nonsense you wall of texted today doesn't change how you have acted for months.

And how have I acted for months? Having "uh you're an AMD fanboy no matter what" s**t thrown at me every f**king day because I wasn't pissing on RX Vega every day like all of you have? Because I dared to be optimistic about it till we got ACTUAL OFFICIAL numbers? And god, the way all of you freaked out when in the end I decided for GeForce, geez, like your lives depend on it. That's how I acted. But whatever... NVIDIA fanboy.

You did exactly what everyone said you would do. Just like Vega. Its hot, power hungry and an underperformer. It is almost as if some of us on here know a thing or two.

And to be fair I was a happy proponent for vega and had it been released a year ago I would have purchased it. You know back when I was shopping for a gpu. It was delayed so long nvidia will have a coubter option available that is probably called the 2060 and it will use all of 120w, before the year is over

So? What would happen if I did in fact buy Vega 64? More "you're an AMD fanboy" namecalling?

Ignoring everything around screaming Intel and nvidia were the devil got you that. Not your product choices

While having NVIDIA and Intel. C'mon dude, don't act like a freaking retard. "Hurr durr, but you're still and AMD fanboy with that Intel CPU and NVIDIA graphic card hurr durr". That's how you people looked like. And when i asked how in freaking hell can one be an AMD fanboy while not having any of their stuff in a PC, you came up with some retarded excuse. Like, seriously dude, chill.

And that is the exact comment that further proves the point.

Just like you proved that I'm an AMD fanboy right? You keep on saying shit and prove nothing. Get lost.

Windows 10 is $20. Upgrade lol.

Payed like $2.30 USD in ebay for an extra working Win7 X64 key a while back, should work with Win10 to just upgrade, but last time i tried win10 my hashrate dropped to 4 Mh/s because i needed to download Aniversary Update, so i just went back to win7 since it works flawlesly. In anycase, AMD delivered a non working Driver for Win7. I don't see them fixing it but thank God some dude leaked a working Version of the drivers several days before AMD released their official Blockchain compute "Fixed" Drivers.

I didn't have to prove anything you literally posted for months saying vega was going to be this, that and the other thing. It has delivered none of those and was late at that. A multitude of forum members pointed this out well before myself. I am just finding it all so ironic that all of the points said to you are all of a sudden your idea and fresh new information to the world. Seriously admit you were wrong, you played the effervescent AMD bandwagoner, fanboy, hypetrainer (you pick your term), they didn't release what they said they would (again) and all of a sudden you are back on the other team acting like you didn't post the crap you did for months.

Dude what's your problem? lol

He hasn't acted that crazy, and frankly someone isn't a fanboy simply for pointing out the BS Intel and Nvidia pull. Their has been a lot of BS lately, and there is no requirement to criticize everyone just to appear "fair and balanced" (Although there is plenty of stuff to complain about AMD).

I will also back him up that you continue to spout complete nonsense with the confidence of a child dictator. First you attack him for buying a GPU he wants, and then you attack me for (correctly) stating how well Vega mines.

He shit posted every single nvidia/Intel thread for months. This is literally no different than what he did to users for months.

Oh and how well does vega mine everything you have posted has been a crock of it. In fact the only number you have posted is at double the wattage and a mere 5mh/s faster than a 480 with a substantially worse ROI.

Download the small package that downloads only what is needed for your gpu. It works well.

If RX480 is your AMD GPU atm, then it is the pack in the link below saying "AMD Minimal Setup".

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64

If you were referring to the driver that fixes the dag epoch bug, then sorry. I thought you were talking about the normal driver, not the special one for eth ereum mining.
