Hot on the heels of NVIDIA's GeForce 313.95 Beta drivers, AMD launched Catalyst 13.2 Beta, targeting EA's release of Crysis 3 multiplayer open-beta. The driver improves performance by up to 15 percent, but in highly specific scenarios, vaguely put by AMD as "in high MSAA cases." There is no general performance improvement announced, but that future Catalyst releases could address performance. Catalyst 13.2 Beta also addresses frame latency issues related to three titles, TES5: Skyrim, Boderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2. Single GPU performance for Devil May Cry is improved by up to 50 percent. CrossFire systems running Crysis 2 could see a 10 percent performance improvement. Lastly, a texture-flickering issue seen with DirectX 9.0c applications is resolved.

I hope this helps in the Crysis 3 beta. I played earlier on the 12.11s and performance wasn't too great :( I've already installed them, but I'll be giving it a shot in game tomorrow.

Texture flickering seen in DX9.0c applications resolved eh....

I winder if this is abut the Z-fighting being reduced which all cards have regardless of AMD or nVidia or if this about the flicker/image corruption.

Either way the corruptions I am experiencing are very rare to the point where I do not see them often enough to revert to an older driver.

Will have to try these out.

It does say it supports back to the 5 series so... maybe?

As far as texture flickering issues go, a lot of the blame can go out to many games with sloppy texture placement. This happens with all brands of cards and drivers can't do a thing about it. So, whatever texture flickering that was actually caused by drivers, were supposedly fixed.

Subjectively, Borderlands 2 and Skyrim seem a lot smoother now. In a way the frames seem to come more regular(fluent) instead of randomly weird stuttery.
The biggest improvement I noticed was in skyrim in places where the FPS is generally a bit on the low side(like whiterun), the lower FPS does not seem to impact the feeling of responsiveness or smoothness as much as it did with former drivers.

Lets hope they can keep improving their drivers for other games(or fix the apparent fault memory management):toast:

These drivers are nice. Everything runs great.

I did play crysis 3 with these hammerON but only with these drivers.

I did and I can't really tell if CF is working or not. 80%/80% on both my 7970s but the performance is just bad.

I am using the 13.2 beta's that erocker pointed out the other day and with ULPS disabled I get GREAT FPS in Arma II but have not tried any other games. Me and erocker both were having issues with FPS tanking even away from towns in arma II with many other drivers.

Does anyone else see it as inscrutable Nvidia isn’t getting condemnation for PhysX in Borderlands 2 that can't be turned off, but must run with low settings ON! Nvidia shouldn't be compelling game developers to run with PhysX implemented at any level, then especially with someone else’s graphic hardware. It’s their proprietary software and as such should not be made to be engaged on gaming titles running AMD hardware. It not that I wouldn’t like the see such technology in all games, but Nvidia can’t have it both ways. Either they release open source code or consent to it being shut-off. :shadedshu

Coming back to AMD, HD 7850 in the post. Seems like they are really starting to get to grips with their drivers and "giving a shit". I take it that 7850s performance has benefited in recent driver updates?

Can't say I have noticed a difference over the WHQLs but then again, maybe I am not playing the games which benefit from the driver's performance.

Can't say I have observed any image corruptions aka flickers either.

Appears the drivers are going to be solid for GCN architecture, just took a long time for them to become solid when they released the 7xxx series in some systems.

I'm very happy... Other than FRAPS seemingly has issues with these drivers and some games. FRAPS probably needs an update.

ArmA 2/DayZ didn't like 13.1's for me. After about 10 minutes into a game my GPU usage would go down to 12% or so and stay there. With these beta's, I'm getting better performance with that game than with any other driver. This pretty much goes for every other game I play.

Unless there's a new game coming out that I want that requires new drivers, I'm sticking with these for a while. :)

It's a game specific fix. If it was global 50% boost then ok, but for specific game, it can just be incompatibility or game engine that didn't go too well with older drivers.

I installed these last night but haven't had time to test them. I'm hoping I get some form of DayZ improvement. 13.1 were fine for me.

I wish they'd announce someday soon that they found something to work with and that all Radeon HD7000 cards will get a 300% boost in Windows (in all games). Now that would make my day.

Heck, id settle for another 10% boost.
