The X2900XTX is a massive card, from the few pics I've seen on various websites, it reminds me of the old full size AT cards of yester-year. Massive units that slotted in to support braces incorporated in the chassis to stop them from bending coming loose.

These would have to be targeted towards the high end gamer (with very deep pockets). The power requirements are just bl@@dy ridiculous, the amount of heat generated from the unit would probably be close to equalling or exceeding that of the CPU. I think it's about time these companies come up with a more energy efficient card, that does not require a separate PSU or a 700W system PSU, not to mention, a smaller size would be nice.

DUUUUDE.... Thats the OEM version, the R600 will run in a 600W system.

I think i'll probably just go for the x2800xt with the new system i plan on building (if the R600 is ever launched that is). Then again i cant say for sure either because i'll have to compare it to the nvidia cards first :p

you know, the card its self doesn't look to be all that big. default coolers from ATI and nVidia or any CPU generally aren't meant to cool but rather keep the card from over heating. Zalman and Arctic Cooling WILL come out with a new much more efficent cooler soon after or at the same time the R600 is released. It will most definantly be smaller, sleeker, and more attractive. As for the power consumption, i don't know what to tell you there except, get a better PSU

12 inces for the OEM version and 9.5 for the retail. Dell guys will get the 12 version while the rest of us get the 9.5. plus the length of the card also includes that massive cooler
