AMD has today released a new and improved version of their "Adrenalin" graphics card driver with the release of the version 19.11.1. The new release brings many bug fixes and most importantly a support for Red Dead: Redemption II game. Some of the improvements with the 19.11.1 are the fixes for frame rate limit of 60 FPS in some game titles that utilize Vulkan API; OBS streaming now doesn't get a heavy frame drop when using AMF encoding and error when some users try to connect to Twitch from the connect page in Radeon Settings for live streaming is gone.

Download the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.11.1 Driver.

The full change-log follows.

Support For
  • Red Dead: Redemption II

Added Vulkan Support
  • VK_KHR_timeline_semaphore - This extension introduces a new semaphore type that uses an integer payload to identify a point in a timeline. The extension supports querying the semaphore, host wait/signal operations, and device wait/signal operations.
  • VK_KHR_shader_clock - This extension allows a shader to query a real-time or monotonically incrementing counter at the subgroup level or across the device level.
  • VK_KHR_shader_subgroup_extended_types - This extension enables the nonuniform group operations in SPIR-V to support 8-bit integer, 16-bit integer, 64-bit integer, 16-bit floating-point, and vectors of these types.
  • VK_KHR_pipeline_executable_properties - This extension allows debugging and performance tools and applications in general to query properties and statistics about the pipeline compilation process.
  • VK_KHR_spirv_1_4 - This extension allows the use of SPIR-V 1.4 shader modules, which in turn allows easier translation from high level languages into spirv.
  • VK_EXT_subgroup_size_control - This extension enables an implementation to control the subgroup size by allowing a varying subgroup size and also specifying a required subgroup size. The optional feature to allow full compute subgroups is enabled.
  • Clustered Subgroup Operations - This feature bit allows invocations to perform cluster operations such as add, mul, min, max, and, or, xor among partitions of a subgroup. The operations are only performed within the subgroup invocations within a partition.

Fixed Issues
  • Some users may be unable to connect their Twitch account through the Connect page in Radeon Settings for live streaming.
  • The Outer Worlds may sometimes experience an application crash when opening the characters inventory screen.
  • The Outer Worlds may experience character models being rendered incorrectly on the inventory screen.
  • Frame Rate may cap or remain limited to 60 fps in some Vulkan API games.
  • OBS streaming may experience heavy frame drops when using AMF encoding..

Known Issues
  • Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products may experience stutter in some games at 1080p and low game settings.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay may cause stutter or screen flashing on some applications.
  • Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products may experience display loss when resuming from sleep or hibernate when multiple displays are connected.
  • Toggling HDR may cause system instability during gaming when Radeon ReLive is enabled.
  • Stutter may be experienced when Radeon FreeSync is enabled on 240hz refresh displays with Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products.
  • AMD Radeon VII may experience elevated memory clocks at idle or on desktop.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay may report incorrect VRAM utilization.
  • Invoking Radeon Overlay may cause games to lose focus or become minimized when HDR is enabled within Windows.

Not sure if this will also address slow H.264 encoding.

Nice, finally on parity in Vulkan.

Damn it AMD, now it just crashes... I bet a hotfix incoming tomorrow.

AMD graphics drivers really are quite poor compared to the green team. Let’s hope their new-found success has them quickly investing more resources in driver development, because it‘s a sore spot for sure.

Looks like she will be buying a new GPU instead of returning the Index.

These seem like some big known issues... Apparently if you have multiple monitors with one of them being a 1080p 240 Hz FreeSync display and you use low settings to get close to 240 fps, then you are going to be hitting three different stutter or display loss bugs.

You sure? I'd lost the driver options months ago with my main system with a Vega FE.

I've been adding this registry line for the last few months to correctly enable the gaming mode. (Only options i'm missing seems to be RIS)

Nvidia has a reputation of very nasty bugs on their drivers, even stoping cooling.
AMD has a reputation of implementing functions that are not yet stable on their release drivers.
Intel has good enough drivers with no bullshit.

Intel wins this one.

That would be LOL'able. I've been using ATI cards since the Mach64 and Rage 128. AMD since the Am386 40Mhz. They can look those up (probably before many were born) and then check my specs. I'll admit that I haven't used AMD in a personal system for the past couple generations, but coming from two green cards in a row, the difference is palpable. It's a new architecture and I'm optimistic things will improve, but currently it detracts from their product.

Thats a little unfair, to be honest. I play Apex Legends 1080P, but max settings, and I have this stuttering issue. Apex is obviously so light that it runs as though its at low settings... That or their wording is wrong, so this happens in some titles at 1080P and/or 1080P with low settings. Started the moment I got my 5700, had no issues like that with my old 580. I still love the card, no other games have any issues that I've noticed on my lowly 1080P display.

I'm hanging on every driver release waiting for that issue to be resolved. I miss Apex lol.

At least you get to play it, mine just crashes. Seems GCN1 is no longer supported by EA.

Seems like people seem to forget that both Pascal and Turing had plenty of problems of their own in the first 6-9 months of their life. Heck having connected some TVs over HDMI as a secondary display somehow still breaks GPU clocks...

If its such a problem report it.

I havent had TDRs/instability as you claim and green is pretty bad.

Seems like people seem to forget that both Pascal and Turing had plenty of problems of their own in the first 6-9 months of their life. Heck having connected some TVs over HDMI as a secondary display somehow still breaks GPU clocks...

switching over to Turing from my old R9 was super smooth. Not a single problem. This is from someone who has NEVER used Nvidia GPU in my personal rig before my current 2080Ti

what “Lots of turing problem” are you referring to?

Thats a little unfair, to be honest. I play Apex Legends 1080P, but max settings, and I have this stuttering issue. Apex is obviously so light that it runs as though its at low settings... That or their wording is wrong, so this happens in some titles at 1080P and/or 1080P with low settings. Started the moment I got my 5700, had no issues like that with my old 580. I still love the card, no other games have any issues that I've noticed on my lowly 1080P display.

I'm hanging on every driver release waiting for that issue to be resolved. I miss Apex lol.

I meant low details 1080p.

Use supersample in the game. You can turn off AA, then. TAA is like wearing the wrong eye prescription.

Intel has good enough drivers with no bullshit.

Intel wins this one.
Only until recently was I able to drive the display on my laptop along with two external 4k displays with a Kaby Lake iGPU. Intel has been doing better, but I've experienced more than my fair share of bullshit with Intel GPU drivers. Just be grateful that it isn't Intel quality GPU drivers from 15 years ago.

Driver induced hardware failure? We are talking driver issue. Not that “OMG Massive Amount of Turing are dying left and right” piece again
