AMD today released the latest version of Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition. Version 20.1.1 Beta comes with follows up on the previous 19.12.3 release with an equally long list of fixes and stability improvements in the wake of AMD radically updating its driver software, particularly the Radeon Software application. Before that, 20.1.1 includes performance optimization for "Monster Hunter World: Iceborne." The company has also fixed SETI@Home result errors when using RX 5700 series GPUs. To begin with, AMD removed audible beeps for toggling of Radeon Chill, Boost, and Anti-Lag features (the beep is now optional). Radeon ReLive indication on screen timer during recordings has been disabled by default. V-sync settings now hide or disappear when Enhanced Sync is enabled, so as to not conflict with it and destabilize your gaming session. ReLive experiencing performance issues with high-resolution cameras has also been addressed. Radeon Game Advisor causing in-game CPU usage spikes has also been resolved. Issues with software updates through Radeon Software have been fixed. Also fixed is abnormal CPU usage with DuplicateDesktop process when gaming. A Radeon Software (application) crash when resuming from machine sleep has been fixed.

Radeon Software Overlay toast message persisting even when disabled, has been fixed. Stuttering issues with "Lost Ark" have been fixed. Custom stream hotkey failing to stream with Radeon ReLive has been fixed. Radeon R9 200, R9 300, and R9 Fury series GPUs experience instability in a number of games with over 120 Hz refresh-rates. This has been fixed. MJPEG video payback on RX 5700 series experiencing a green tint when viewed with WMP or Movies & TV application has been fixed. "MechWarrior 5" crashing with DXGI dialog error when using FreeSync displays over HDMI, has been fixed. DouYu live streaming with hardware-acceleration on RX 5700 series was experiencing display corruption, which has been fixed. Excessive fog/smoke effects in "Trials Rising" has been fixed. Right-eye display corruption with "Boneworks" VR has been fixed. "Resident Evil 2" flashing screen at start up in DirectX 12 mode has also been fixed. Grab the drivers from the link below.

The change-log follows.
Support For
  • Monster Hunter World : Iceborne
Fixed Issues
  • The audible beeps at game startup from Radeon Chill, Radeon Boost, and Radeon Anti-Lag have been removed. These features now offer audible indicators only when activated or deactivated via hotkey.
  • The Radeon ReLive on screen timer indicator during recordings has been disabled by default but can be enabled in Radeon Software settings.
  • Controls for vertical sync may be hidden or disappear when Radeon Enhanced Sync is enabled.
  • Radeon ReLive may experience freezing or pausing issues during recordings when a high resolution camera is connected and in use.
  • CPU usage may sometimes remain high once Radeon Game Advisor has been invoked during a game.
  • Some users may experience an error message "Another instance is running" during download of a software update through the Radeon Software home screen.
  • The DuplicateDesktop process may sometimes cause high CPU usage while a game is running.
  • Radeon Software may close or may experience a crash upon resuming from sleep.
  • The toast message detailing the hotkey to open Radeon Software's Overlay may still show up in some games after Radeon Software Overlay has been disabled.
  • Lost Ark may experience stuttering intermittently during gameplay.
  • Using a custom stream key with Radeon ReLive may fail to stream your content.
  • The 'Stream' button may remain active when in the process of choosing a region to stream even when a region has not been selected or chosen.
  • Some Radeon R9 200, Radeon R9 300 and Radeon R9 Fury series graphics products may experience instability with a limited number of DirectX 9 or DirectX 11 games when using a high refresh rate 120hz+ display. A workaround if you are experiencing this issue is to lower your displays refresh rate.
  • Some mjpeg clips may experience a green tint on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products when using Windows Media Player or the Movies & TV application.
  • MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries may experience a game crash and DXGI dialogue error when running the game using HDMI and Radeon FreeSync display configurations.
  • Live streaming using the DouYu application with hardware acceleration enabled may cause video corruption on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products.
  • Trials Rising may experience excessive fog/smoke in some areas of the game.
  • Missing text or corruption may be experienced in the right eye when playing the VR game Boneworks.
  • Fixed result overflows that can be experienced with Radeon RX 5700 series when using SETI@Home.
  • The 'Shop AMD Products' button may open the AMD.com homepage instead of the proper shopping web link.
  • The scrolling arrow options may intermittently fail to work during Radeon Software installation.
  • Up and Down arrow keys don't work when using the search bar in Radeon Software.
  • Enabling HDR enabled displays in Windows may cause colors to become washed out.
  • Radeon Software sidebar appears behind the Windows taskbar when the taskbar is set to the same side of your display.
  • Playing Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 with HDR enabled and performing a task switch may cause display color corruption that persists even once the game is exited.
  • Mixed Reality Portal may experience color corruption or distortion near the edge of viewing areas on some headsets.
  • Resident Evil 2 may experience screen flashing when launching the game using DirectX 12 API.

AMD says this everytime someone asks them about it. Now, they have a better team, more competent, than ages past.

The list of bugs is even more impressive lol
as with any software that is constantly updated and changed, the more they fix something, the more they break stuff.

this is just PR talk, what else would they say?
"oh yeah, we've heard all the complaints but we're just gonna keep fixing them at our usual pace because drivers are not that big of a priority"?

Has anyone tested Unreal Engine 4 games with this driver yet, wondering if they still have the fatal error crash that began with 19.12.2.

EDIT: issue is still present. oh well.

This was annoying when testing those features. I have since disabled all three for maximum FPS and minimal drops. Anti-Lag doesn't really do much for me in PUBG and R6: Siege. Great to hear that they made the beeps optional now, although they should just make this a menu toggle instead of a hotkey.

  • Radeon Software may close or may experience a crash upon resuming from sleep.

This was highly annoying. It was similar to TDR while gaming, however forcing Windows to reset the display driver (which kills the Radeon Software) within a few seconds of the blank out prevents it from freezing up the system and continues normally. It's good they addressed it here.

Maybe a great workaround will be having an Nvidia card next time instead of AMD

If only you actually knew what you were talking about...

Until AMD fixes their multi-monitor power consumption - an issue that has been around for LITERALLY YEARS - I suggest you STFU.

Do this for both monitors. It may allow the card to downclock.

I'm not experiencing this anymore because I switched to a LG 27" monitor, but I can confirm the fix does work on a single monitor, not sure on dual-monitors as I gave my Dell to a relative.

I'm hopeful 6 months from now AMD gpu drivers are going to be impressive. :)

I switched just yesterday to a Navi 5700 XT I got cheaply expecting the worst...

It's not been very bad at all.

The list of bugs is even more impressive lol

Are you looking at the same list I am? This is a pretty clean release.

I Have both, and my nividia PC can play all the games...the AMD HTPC can't since the 2020 drivers launched...

Strange, i can play all games with the 20.1.1 driver and a RX 5700 XT without problems.
Also not one problem with my Vega 56.
