I Have both, and my nividia PC can play all the games...the AMD HTPC can't since the 2020 drivers launched...

What games are you having issues with? I kept hearing about this but I honestly have not found a single bug yet in my present driver.

I'm hopeful 6 months from now AMD gpu drivers are going to be impressive. :)
Lol. AMD's drivers, while having pretty nice looking UI and features nowdays are absolute trash as far as stability. Can't seem to find one that works well with my 5700 XT and at work I'm using year old drivers on the 570's I have there. I'm sure this 5700 xt is going to be sold before a decent driver is out for it.

Hmmm... that's odd. What model are you using and what games are you having issues with?

I'm thinking most of the 5700 XT issues are due to overly agressive power management, and my custom powerplay tables (which amongst other things, disable the cards idle function) may be mitigating the stability issues others experience due to said crazy-agressive reclocking.

Gathering evidence, at any rate.

Sapphire 5700 XT reference card. Having issues with driver crashes with BF V mostly like many others across the interwebz but have also had crashing with Witcher 3, Mordhau and pretty much any other semi-demanding game. I wouldn't expect to have to really do anything to have a stock stable card. Also, the card is pretty loud and annoying. I've pretty much stopped bothering with it for now, threw my 1080 back in. I might just sell it off in a month or so, or if a stable driver comes out I'd give it a try again.

No, I am with you there. Just curious why it seems to affect some and not others. It's certainly not something that leaves a good impression when you experience it, at any rate.

It probably has to do that the Navi series (5700 (XT)) has PCI-Express 4.0 x16. Only the x570 motherboards have this and the older AM4 boards received bios updates for that.
Many people still have old motherboards or Intel motherboards.

That's why you see that most problems are with Navi and not with Vega / Polaris or older.

I myself have no problems because I always update my bios, but found that I had problems with an x79 system with the same 5700 XT.

That`s what i have tested and have read it on Reddit.

I mean I am running a z390 system. I really don't think pcie has much to do with it. I feel it has to be something energy management related. Navi also features a brand new clocking and voltage table system. Some cards have the voltage table set really low. My XFX has a rather high idle, by comparison.

If anyone having problems wants to test my powerplay table that disables voltage scaling, and see if it fixes things, pm me.

Seriously, why?

Mainly, that I was able to attain a far better overclock that way. I am not aware of many Navis running clock locked and stable at 1.2v, 2200MHz. If I let it auto manage voltage, I'd be getting green screens here.

Mind you, it's a WIP. I do want to add idle back but need to do so in a stable way. As it stands, I'm willing to throw efficiency to the wind for more power.

EDIT: Meh, I gave in and I am letting it clock at 2100Mhz instead so I can regain idle. I love trees, so I do my part.

The audible beeps at game startup from Radeon Chill, Radeon Boost, and Radeon Anti-Lag have been removed. These features now offer audible indicators only when activated or deactivated via hotkey.

thank god for that

I was wondering WTF that was... However after the update mine still does it LOL

First thing I did was turn all those hotkeys off. Leave me alone, Radeon Control thingy!

The fact that idle clocks affect your max load clocks just makes my head full of f**k. AMD driver team, you need to step up.

It is really weird. I think it's more that the bios can override the driver, and some vendors are pushing crazy levels of "efficiency" in the bios (like unstable levels).

My XFX seems to run a higher voltage idle, but it's stable as can be, as an example.
