Why bother even thinking about the new AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF ?
How about that it benchmarks just 1 - 2 % lower than the AMD Ryzen 5 2600, but is being sold for Just $85!

Yeah, last I heard it's only available at one retailer in the US - I think it's microcenter.

I know which sucks, I usually go for the 2600 for new Gamer builds but if I could get my hands on these they are academic for price/performance builds.

When I click on that link it shows the 1600 not AF?

If I could get these at a decent price (less than $140 cad) then I would be happy. But currently working with a contact in China in getting more 3500X into Canada and they usually cost me around $150 cad for the processor. But these AF, if I get them here much quicker at similar price, I would rather go with these.

It's a new listing with reviews starting late December 2019. The SKU on the listing "YD1600BBAFBOX" matches the techspot review

and people are confirming it's the 12nm version in reviews

Can confirm I received a 12nm version as well. Runs like a champ so far. What a deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! A Ryzen 5 1600 Zen+?!

This is def a Zen+ refresh at 12nm. I did a review on it on YouTube sharing my experience under the same username here. One thing to note is that Ryzen Master software doesn't seem to work with it as it says it is an unsupported chip, but it is legit and works just a hair under the Ryzen 5 2600 performance. The price and performance is amazing! So amazing, I bought a second one! :)

The question I keep hearing, and the supposed reason pcpartpicker won't add this to the site is BIOS compatibility.

I should have one in a week or so and I'll test on some BIOSes on my x370 board to see what works.

So we are hooped.

So that backs up my point that it isn't really available for most then.

Unless someone here is willing to buy it and send it to us.

For $85 I might drive to the closest MIcrocenter (about 4 hrs away) and pickup 3 or 4 of these.

I live in Mississauga, Ontario. I hear the used market is pretty good in Calgary is that true? I was thinking of looking of for some used parts to buy.

hardware unboxed and techspot are basically the exact same site, same guy (steve walton) does the reviews. He posts them online under hardware unboxed and then is a paid reviewer for techspot. So if you ever want the written form of his review go to techspot or vice versa for the video of the review

right now not so much. Used market kinda sucks as people are overcharging on goods. I looked up GTX 1080 for example and its getting close to $600 used. No thanks.

If you make any purchases down south, let me know. I may just ask if I can buy some from you. South of me is Montana. And I dont see a Micro center listed in Montana.
