FX-62 still sells for 1100+ in aus.

because they are rare, people will pay top dollar.

well dang I should sell mine to AUS then, out here it hard to get more than 150$ for it. lol

and on the fx-60, many people still cling to ddr ram, the low latencies really help out on the amd platform, pity you can't get good ddr mem for reasonable prices anymore.

Have you ever Overclocked previously? If not I sugget you read some of the stickies in the Overclocking section of the forums.

Then what you dont understand, ask about. You have a very easy board to OC, you just need to get familiar with your bios and read lots of info!

Also please fill out your systemspecs in UserCP so we know what everything is in play here. Thanks!

well since the FX-60 goes for roughly 150 UK pounds I done some more research & found a limited number of 939 175 opterons for a lot less then 150pounds. the guy the the price yo 99pounds but will accept buy now or nearest offer which means you could even ask the dude to go down to 80pounds plus p&p

so rather then look for an FX-60. try & nab yourself an opteron which with the right hardware has the same if not a lot more overclocking potential then the FX-60

the guys even included the CPU stepping

Im supprised no one said this yet. They stopped making the 60's, just like they stopped making DDR1 ram as much, this causes the demand to rise which is directly perportional to the price. If the 939 socket was still in use the price would be much lower.

AMD really did kick themselves in the nuts for not continuing the 939 platform. However, they said they couldn't move on with 939 hence why AM2 had to come out of the woodwork.

Shame really as the 754 & 939 platforms really did give Intel a kick in the nuts. I blame Microshaft partly for delaying the 64bit version of XP so Intel could play catch up, if only AMD have had that market, things would have a lot different now.

AM2 is just as fast as 939, but with a lot cheaper ram.

Imagine this: what if AMD had canned phenom and their monolithic design, and slapped two BE chips together like intel did for kentsfield?

This old thread deserves a bump because this chip cost me around 3.5x more than any other FX-60 & is exclusive to TechPowerup.

The following screenshot needs to be uploaded to "CPU World.Com". It's the first AMD FX-60 I have seen to be made in the year 2007.
It also has a rear stepping code.

It was a flagship cpu, and it completely destroyed what Intel had at the time. That’s a fair price I think.. it may be old but it’s an important part of modern cpu history. And it’s a fun cpu to play with if you have a good board.

AMD's Dual Core FX-60 at 2.6Ghz is selling at upwards $300 on Ebay. Why? Sure it was a great processor back in it's day, but it is old technology. Perhaps it is because there are so few of them left. Still, why not put the $300 into a new CPU/Motherboard?
Same reason im not selling my 5775c now but will go into a htpc and then in the drawer to wait for some maniac to pay the msrp price on ten years.

That chip cost me £250.00, but there was an import duty on top of this including handing fees £75.00.

I could never afford the FX-60 but I found a lucky deal on an FX-57 at tthe time on ebay because it was incorrectly posted as a 3500+ in the description but was in fact an FX-57 when you read the details and looked closer on the Pic and confirmed by the owner. Scored it for under or around $170 back then and also at the time was a faster Gaming CPU then the FX-60.

I actually have an FX-55 somewhere.... But its a clawhammer so its totally Junk. I dont think it even liked to get pushed to 3ghz. Didnt OC very well and ran super hot. I replaced it with a 3000+ and was running at 3.8 or 3.9Ghz super easy within hours.

All my FX-55 OC data is back on Guru3D somewhere, back when i used to post there. I'd be lucky to have any screenshots of all that on my current system. I remember i used to upload them to services like photobucket but one of the main ones i used died a looooooooong time ago. so thats a lot of old pictures just gone.

I still have the FX-55 and the 3000+ in a box full of junk somewhere. I think the 3000+ is probably still plugged in to my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum board but I remember a few years back i tried to get the system working again out of nostalgia but I never got it to start up for some reason. Maybe bulging caps since it had been sitting in storage for a pretty long time.

Maybe i'll go dig that stuff out of the shed in the summer and see if i can make it work again. My x850xtpe is in the shed too... stored badly, so its probably also dead.

Id put stuff away neatly in boxes but my mums a roomba. she will tidy a room then tidy the room shes just tidied all over again. which basically means moving stuff from one side of the room to the other. she took out a lot of my stuff and put all of them together in one bigg box and threw the smaller boxes. By the time i found out it had already been a few years so theres not a lot i could do about it but just leave it the way it is. R.I.P original packaging and resale value.
