AMD Socket AM5 motherboards are set to arrive in Q2-2022, according to PJ, the editor of Uniko's Hardware. This would mean that the Zen 3 + 3D Vertical Cache chiplet AMD CEO Dr Lisa Su showed off in her Computex keynote, could very well be built in the Socket AM4 package, compatible with existing motherboards. The prototype Dr Su showed off appeared Socket AM4, too. AMD claims that the 3D Vertical Cache feature, when paired with a "Zen 3" chiplet, improves gaming performance by a significant 15 percent, helping AMD catch up with Intel's "Rocket Lake-S" processor at gaming. Elsewhere across the landscape, PJ predicts that the Z690 chipset, which goes with "Alder Lake-S" processors in the LGA1700 package, will arrive by Q4 2021, with cost-effective chipsets such as the B660 and H610 in Q1-2022.

On leak is written only AMD AM5. This mean socket AM5 will be ready for use. There is not any words for ready for use chipsets, motherboards, CPUs, etc.

Intel needs to demonstrate by independent reviews that Alderlake would be the best gaming chip.

Its TPU. What do you expect? They really don't like AMD here. :)
Everyone is entitled to make a living, that's why you question everything on the internet now, remember tomshardware and JUST BUY IT.
Now to the topic, it's great these cpu's get faster and faster but lately intensive work have been moved to gpu, it's great and bad at the same time because it's much faster but buggier, still, cpu gets less and less important for some important productivity apps

Is that really the solution to the riddle? Zen 3 plus means nothing else but Zen 3 plus 3D V-cache?

Here's hoping that the last AM4 CPUs get to be something like 6900X and 6950X options, just to get in step with their GPUs for this generation and the next.

Honestly.. I am glad they are saving Zen3+ for AM5.

I just spent a shitload of money on my 5900X only to see Newegg drop the price by like 80 bucks a week later. If they did this to AM4 I would probably never buy another AMD CPU lol..

Don't do it. You'll be buying the last CPU made for DDR4. Don't be like me. I bought the last CPU on DDR3.

I'd like to think DDR5 will help them with that.

Well, I'll take something that is up to 15% faster than AMD's current best, and better than anything Intel has planned for the next couple of years, on my dead AM4 platform! ;-)

Also, DDR5 is going to be hot garbage for at least the next 2 years before it delivers tangible performance improvements over low latency, high speed DDR4.

I thought the same too. I wasn’t so sure that AMD is trying to catch up with Rocket Lake. Results have shown otherwise with most games favouring AMD Zen 3. The RKL processor actually regressed against their Comet Lake when it comes to gaming. Adding 15% to IPC will soundly beat Rocket Lake in every aspect, barring AVX512 and AI related load.

What's wrong with the reviews from TPU in regards to AMD CPUs...

Precisely the point. And the best part is RKL is actually slower than Comet Lake in games.

I wonder if we will see the 3DV Cache on the 5700G? Should do wonders for the iGPU.

So is Zen3+ really happening? Warhol was the codename for it and I have seen reports of it being cancelled.

Im planning to get a 5900x soon, so would like to know if should wait a bit longer or not.

That is usually the case with new DDR for at least the first couple generations of CPU/platforms that support it. Then Its really good.

Haha, yes ... I'd put the estimate at 1 year, though. As it now seems, AMD is happy to avoid that fresh hot garbage. Not long ago, I was convinced that they want/need to counter Intel's DDR5 launch with their own DDR5 launch but no.

May your dead horse take you far, galloping in the first gear instead of walking in the second.

Oh that is sweet news if Zen 3+ is on AM4. That will actually later on give me an upgrade from current 5600X and 5950X later down the road, if that is happening off cause,
