AMD released the latest version of the AMD Software Adrenalin drivers. Although released in December, the drivers bear the version number 22.11.2 (as opposed to something like 22.12.1); as they were probably finalized late last month. Version 22.11.2 beta adds optimization for "The Callisto Protocol," "Need for Speed Unbound," and "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" Next-Gen Update. Among the issues fixed with this release are intermittent driver timeout or black-screen occurring with Radeon RX 6000-series during video playback and window switching on machines powered by RX 6000-series graphics and 240 Hz monitors.

Online video stuttering noticed in Firefox with hardware-acceleration on machines with RX 6000 series graphics, has been fixed. GPU utilization remaining at 100% after closing games on machines powered by RX 570 "Polaris" graphics cards caused due to buggy AMDRSServ.exe, has been fixed. A driver timeout or black-screen while videos are playing with VRChat on RX 6000-series GPU powered machines, has been fixed. Grapb the driver from the link below.

DOWNLOAD: AMD Software Adrenalin 22.11.2 Beta

Support for:
  • The Callisto Protocol
  • Need for Speed Unbound
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-Gen Update
Fixed Issues
  • During video playback and window switching, an intermittent driver timeout or black screen may occur on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs using some 240 Hz refresh rate displays or high refresh rate primary display plus low refresh rate secondary display configurations.
  • Stuttering may occur during video playback using hardware acceleration with Firefox on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs.
  • AMDRSServ.exe may cause GPU utilization to remain at 100% after closing games on some AMD Graphics Products such as Radeon 570.
  • An intermittent driver timeout or black screen may occur while videos are playing in VRChat on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs.
Known Issues
  • Intermittent system stuttering or UI flickering may occur when two videos are simultaneously playing using chromium-based browsers.
  • During video playback and gameplay, frame drop may occur in chromium-based browsers with variable refresh rate enabled extended displays.
  • Brief display corruption may occur when switching between video and game windows on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
  • Texture flickering or artifacts may occur during Warhammer 40,000: Darktide gameplay.

Still unclear about something here. Latest version shows 2022.12.1 and is not beta so this would be the better driver to install than 22.11.2 beta?

It has drastically improved in the last 6 months, tbh.

No more denying the driver overhead issues in DX11/OGL, rather they fixed them, was my main note.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I'm glad they've fixed the horrible stuttering in Callisto Protocol.
That one was a bit embarassing because it's a game they were giving away free with select Radeon GPU purchases last month...

"Here's a game to go with your new GPU, sorry it's unplayably broken but at least it's free!"

  • During video playback and window switching, an intermittent driver timeout or black screen may occur on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs using some 240 Hz refresh rate displays or high refresh rate primary display plus low refresh rate secondary display configurations.
I got my hopes up, but... in vain. The issue I was having still isn't resolved, even though this one sounds exactly like the one I'm having.

And even though the version 21 driver is stable, I get video corruption when playing certain video files, so I am officially done with AMD's graphics cards. Later this month I will be ordering an NVIDIA card, most likely a 3070.

As you can see, nV has had some similar problems caused in combination with Windows. So I'd assume it's something AMD has to fix with MS

The issue described in the link you provided does not seem similar to the one I'm experiencing, and even if it is, I don't know when AMD would fix it, if ever. If it is the same issue as the one I'm having (or related to it), but it has been fixed in since then in the NVIDIA driver, then that's an even higher incentive for me to switch to NVIDIA.

I'd try the fix anyway, since there's a quick way to undo the registry changes.

Looks like that infuriating crashing issue in RuneScape has finally been fixed. Spotted it in the game's patch notes and haven't had any issues since updating to this driver.

Basically, if you had the game's settings turned up too high (especially render distance), it would just randomly crash. From what I understand, it was an OpenGL issue; it popped up with driver version 22.7.1. Before now, the only real fix was to run in compatibility mode (DirectX), which sucks performance and visuals-wise.

Nope, the issue still exists. Took a while to crop up for some reason.
