AMD seems to be blaming the W10 Scheduler for some of Ryzen's threads being missed, due to thread and cache identifying errors.

I don't think it was ever them. I think it was reviewer supposition. AMD actually came out to say the scheduler was working as intended. The other theory is simple latency issues as each 4 core CCX module has a spillover to the next which (if not accounted for) may cause the latency which results in slower results. Again, theory as of yet.

Nvidia usually designs a die around 2 products. so for example Titan XP / 1080Ti 1080 / 1070 1050 etc.
Quadro P6000 / Tesla P40 / Titan XP / GTX 1080 Ti = 4 products from the same die(GP102).

Quadro P5000 / Quadro P4000 / Tesla P4 / GTX 1080 / GTX 1070 / GTX 1060 3GB = 6 products from the same die(GP104).

Quadro P2000 / GTX 1060 3GB\6GB = 2 products from the same die(GP106).

Quadro P1000 / Quadro P600 / Quadro P400 / GTX 1050 Ti / GTX 1050 = 5 products from the same die(GP107).

Tesla P100 PCIe 12GB\PCIe 16GB\SMX2 = 1 product from the same die(GP100).

So what do they usually do? I see no common theme there myself.

Geforce products douchenozzle come on. not a single soul on TPU gives a flying fuck about Quadro or Tesla cards even if thats where Nvidia makes the bulk of its money.

Not so much a theory, PC Perspective was it? did a video show casing how threads jumping from one CCX to the other increase latency by an insane amount. Granted had to watch nearly 30 mins of video before getting a decent explanation lol.

I, for one, would take the Quadro P6000 over anything currently on the market. If I had all the money in the world to buy one. Why not? It's the fastest card on Earth right now.

Most likely no gaming driver support from NV

Then I'd just use it to rule over every benchmark. And buy a GTX 1080 Ti for gaming. I mean I have all the money in the world right?

Yeah if all the money in the world is an option then lets get 2 of each and some 4k 120hz HDR IPS screens too lol

Your avatar makes a good argument against that, you know.

It was pretty funny when I seen it on Larry The Cable Guy Page, it's what the teacher wrote at the bottom that was funny

Vega patches landed recently for the amdgpu driver: seven device IDs for Vega 10 (RX, Pro, Mi25, etc.), no sign of Vega 11. Either Vega 11 was scraped or it's coming later.
Alternatively it could also mean we will see Vega X (perf. ~ GTX 1080 Ti), Vega (perf. between GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti ) and Vega Nano (~GTX 1070+) built with Vega 10.

If this what i read is true, than i would rather get a Fury X than the new VEGA.
Remember Fury X is between 1070 and 1080, trailing by just a few fps behind the 1080, so i expect the new VEGA, slowest version of it to beat the 1080 and the bigger brothers to be on par and beat the 1080TI, thus beating the Titan XP as well.

If this doesnt happen, the Fury X will still be a better option for half the price (300$).

Every performance assumption I made is overall gaming performance and here Fury X is behind 1070. It also uses a lot of power. I think that a Nano version of Vega could use 170 W at gaming and be as fast (or faster) as a 1070 (please not that this is pure speculation, but IMHO it makes most sense if Vega 11 is MIA).

Of course it's very different. Why else would they call compute units NCU and talk about pixel and vertex unit all the time? This isn't Polaris. It has stuff they learned from Polaris, but it's a whole new, never to be seen before core. Even 4096 NCU's is just because they know how to work with such number of units from Fury. But it doesn't mean this is just Fury on 14nm or 2x RX470 in one GPU as some stupendously parrot all the time.

MI25 smells like a deep learning card to take on Tesla P100. 16 GiB minimum (32 GiB plausible) with four HBM stacks. A $1000 card easily and that price is reasonable to customers that need it. Also wouldn't be surprised if it is packaged as a dual GPU card (think Radeon Pro Duo 2) but probably not at launch.

AMD Tech summit 2017 video about Vega:

We already know most of the things. Here are some most interesting bits from the video:
8:11 - partners will build different memory configs 4GB or 8GB
8:30 - Vega has smaller footprint as it would have with GDDR5 which enables partners to build thinner and lighter notebooks
11:45 - talk about much faster geometry pipeline
13:00 - talk about NCU, double precision rate is configurable
15:03 - talk about the draw stream binning rasterizer, increasing fps by displaying only important pixels

AMD could scale up to beat a 1080Ti but die size would be huge and expensive.

Fury X was 596mm2

470 is 232 mm2 double that take into account HBM and possible new feature somewhere around 460-500 mm2 for Vega

so somewhere between 450-500 MM2 for AMD to compete with Nvidia 314mm2 1080. 1080Ti is 471 mm2 So AMD would likely need a nearly 600mm2 die like Fury X to compete and thats just not a good path to go down. as cost per die will be high and yields will likely be pretty bad pushing to something that large.

I haven't looked into the die size.
That is pretty impressive on NVIDIA side twice the performance for 50% larger die size on 16nm vs 14nm for AMD side.
Looking at it like that Vega better be a huge step up for AMD.
My guess is Vega will match gtx 1080 for less they not gonna be able to touch 1080ti unless they pull a rabbit of their hat.
As long is not a power hungry monster and has good value I'm good.

I think the newer LPP node will help with top clocks and bring it close to a 1080ti while beating it in some applications given all else we know and specifically packed maths but at this point it's an opinion.

I hope it's awful - my patience wore out and I bought a 1080ti.

Seriously though, I hope it's a train wreck of broken dreams.

But really, if it's better and cheaper than my 1080ti, I'll change to AMD next time.

It most certainly won't be a train wreck. But people either expect it to beat NVIDIA like crazy or to be totally underwhelming. Why is being about the same a bad thing?

Because it upsets the zealots. It means they can't gloat about how superior they are. I'm obviously not serious about wanting it to be a train wreck, I just wish they'd released it already. I've gambled on it being not as fast as the 1080ti. If it is, then my gamble has not paid off and I'll be like, 'meh, win some lose some'. I can see it being £599 if it is as good as the 1080ti though so it's not going to be a cheap card by any means. It might even walk up to the 1080ti price point.
With Ryzen, AMD had to come in low against Intel on pricing - and that paid off for me - 8 cores I don't need now for gaming - sign me up - I'm a fool but the CPU has never been my thing, so this was a safe gamble. But we have to recall the 7970 and Fury X - both cards that came in on par with Nvidia pricing when the performance was similar (but lost out on other subjective and arguable metrics).

Yeah, well, that's how I got GTX 980 after waiting for R9 Fury for so long back then. Otherwise I'd be rocking R9 Fury X for sure...
