These 5700 series cards look nice on paper and in the reviews...but what is going on with the pricing? Isn't this just the new next gen RX 570? Wasn't the msrp for the RX 570 169.99? There are rumors of 5600 and 5800 series cards going around....so these are actually just the new series of cards that are being released?

Prices have apparently doubled overnight? I guess AMD and nVidia got used to the cryptocurrency craze pricing schemes and just stuck with it?

I'm surprised noone has said a word on this? Just suck it up and pay the price eh? So...reasonable mid-tier pricing is now 350 to 400 bucks instead of 175 to 225? Am I correct on this?

I saved up some money to get a 5700 until I saw the pricing. I'll be keeping my RX 570 and RX 580 literally for years if this is how it's going to be from now on.

Frankly...they priced me right out of the market...or...I don't know what I'm talking about.

I've been buying video cards since the late 80's, early 90's...perhaps senility is finally setting in.

$399 for rtx 2070 super level of performance is a fair price I think. this pricing is good. remember how much 7970 cost when it launched? you are comparing the wrong product line.

Amd believes that their card can match Nvidia for the price and performance so they will ask for the same or similar money. On top of that we are closely approaching the point where performance will be good enough for 90% of the people so selling new cards will become difficult so a simple way is to ask for more to have the same profit. AMD Nvidia Intel are in it for the money.

RX 590 is roughly 40% slower than RX 5700 XT and RX 570 is roughly 55% slower than RX 5700 XT.

I doubt AMD is done launching Navi products. RX 5700 XT was priced to performance. Then NVIDIA launched SUPER and AMD re-priced RX 5700 XT to performance.

I suspect there will be an RX 5800 and RX 5900 coming. When and what, we'll have to wait and find out.

People aren't really sucking it up though. Nvidia had a pretty bad quarter. Its picking up now, but still.

Consider the fact PC gaming has become very popular as well and there are other markets also taking supply (mobile, etc.), trade tariffs have an effect, basic resources and staffing is becoming more expensive, and diminishing returns in chip design kick in. Another fact is that you need a lower range card these days to be 'able to game'. The gap between playable and high end has increased quite a bit; we have great cards for 1080p at the lower end now, while there are also 4K capable cards. Manufacturers see their potential target market dwindle fast because any half decent card now sets you up for a long time. Its the whole reason we have RTX as well. We are approaching the top of the ladder with rasterized performance.

These things take time to adjust. If you feel the price is too high now, simply do not buy. This is about patience. Companies have patience, they use it strategically. We should too. Even with all that is going on, a correction is in order.

And people really do whine about price. Its the primary argument these days when it comes to topics like 'what GPU to buy'. Many people have been seeing the same thing you have - perf/dollar has not improved, perhaps even gotten worse relatively and 'over time'.

And essentially from double the msrp of the RX 570 and the RX 580? These look like tremendous price increases to me.

When I saw nVidia's releases of the multi-tiered dragon as well as their pricing scheme...my only thought was...obfuscation equals price increases.

Same with AMD. I'm just surprised no one has said a word on this at all. These are not moderate price increases either and from my perspective no one seems to care.

I'm not the one to pick up a pitchfork and start complaining or arguing about this topic either.

I'm pointing out one thing. I was looking forward to picking up a new graphics card. The "7" series cards are about my speed and I figured the msrp might go up from 169.99 to somewhere in the low to mid 200's...So, I saved up 250 to cover my new card. It took awhile, but I was prepared.

Only to find out I was entirely priced out of the market...:).

That's upsetting to me, but the cards I currently own will have to suffice.

I don't really have anything further to say on the topic other than I won't be purchasing a new RX 5700 series card anytime soon.

Best Regards,

There is a card or two on the way to cover that end of the market but we won't see it until after Aib 5700s appear IMHO.

And the technology incorporated in , as well as the competitive performance of it (5700 series)preclude your reality, though it would be nice :).

It's all valid, Nvidia got beat up on their price increases, especially at the mid-range and it seems AMD are more than happy to follow suit. Nodes are shrinking and getting more expensive, the days of a kind underdog are long gone.

RX 570 and RX 580 targeted far different segments. Their performance just wasn't there for "flagship" like the more recent launches (honestly, they still are somewhat lacking too, but a lot better).

That's upsetting to me, but the cards I currently own will have to suffice

Honestly, if they are doing fine, keep using 'em. Waste not want not, etc.

Best wishes.

Well new RX 5700 & 5700 XT is really not successor of RX 570 and RX 580. It for the new segment created by Nvidia.

Ye I'm also planning on upgrading from a RX 570 to a RX 5700 later the year but honestly the prices in my country are shet as expected.

~450$ for a blower card,no thanks. 'RTX 2060 S is over 520 too..'

Gonna wait till November/December and see if the prices settle or buy something weaker/used cause this is stupid.:banghead:

Custom ones have already leaked.

If you can waited this long, you can wait a few more weeks for them to pop up.
And it will probably worth it for performance, as some overclockers managed to push 5700XT way above 2000 by changing to watercooling and tweaking the shiet out of the power-play tables, almost reaching GTX 2080 levels.

If 5700X is capable of doing that, I can only imagine what 5800XT or .... 5900XT (All 4096 shaders!!) could do ! (Very likely beat Titan RTX)

Not as bad as the $630+ we have to pay here for the XT model, and thats $60 above the actual price they should be priced at. $350-400 IS mid range for us Aussies.

This is called duopoly, also known as inadequate competition.

Remember, too, that AMD has a conflict of interest with PC gaming. It's in AMD's interest to prop up the artificial fragmentation of PC gaming into three incompatible platforms (the two "consoles" plus the "desktop"). So, to make the "consoles" look good and sell, it's not so bad for AMD to let Nvidia keep prices artificially high in the desktop portion of the PC gaming platform. This sells more consoles, which contain AMD hardware. It also, in turn, enables them to sell their midrange GPU designs at higher-than-usual price points for the desktop portion of the platform, and keep rebadging the same chip (cough, Polaris, cough) longer.

This is how monopolization works. It keeps prices higher and slows innovation. Duopoly isn't much better, especially when one of the duopolists works in cahoots with other duopolists/monopolists like MS and Sony.

Reality is that we have a common hardware standard for the PC gaming platform. It's called x86. "Consoles", aside from the Switch which, at least, has a special form factor, are nothing more than low-end PCs in disguise — with parasitic walled garden software incompatibility on top.

Again trying the propaganda that AMD is not for PC. Seeing this kind of post whenever AMD launches some product.

I think people used to the idea that amd will come and save us from nvidia greedness and in the end amd always released gpus that were 50% slower and 70% cheaper, now amd is giving a product that is almost on par x nvidia for cheaper or same price and people are complaining about where is the midrange gpus. We need to understand that nvidia xxx xx7x midrange card cost was always around $300 - $400. There were times for example the 8800gt that was $200 and was almost as fast as the 8800 gtx which was $600 at that time. The 8800gt was a newer process and was released after 18 months or so.

Cryptocurrency mining, really deviated things to beyond stupidity, where gpus of $400 were being charged $800, but with the rx 5700 as initial reports suggest, is not good for mining, maybe that is what amd wanted in the first place this time until crypto developers work their magic with them. Where I live there are plenty 5700 and nobody is buying them or nvidia cards.

Now the nvidia xxx xx6x is really expensive and that is why people are complaining, they used to be sold for just $150 and now $300 or even more and that is the problem here.

As nvidia still the performance leader, means amd will still follow nvidia on pricing.

Going back few years, 9 years to be exact.

That's ending soon with Intel launching cards.
Yeah relying on intel to bring pricing sanity is quite a longshot people keep buying so the prices stay high I got a 2080ti instant buyers remorse clearly they feel they can rip people off with these x570 boards too why? because people want em nuff said

Man. I can't imagine myself buying Intel graphics. I mean it's like a trip to the moon. It's possible but come on. :)

I don't think you got that one right pal. x570 is new, has a lot to offer, new tech just released. It is justifiable that this particular one is expensive due to the new tech and higher cost.
Besides you dont need to buy it. You can settle for x470 which is no different than x570. You lose some of the x570 features but as I said, it is new tech so when you make a purchase ask yourself if you really gonna be using what it has to offers or not and then decide. You don't go for a purchase because it is new especially if you have an alternative.

Yes, Intel launching their monster that's going to compete with Instincts and Titans is going to help with prices on midrange cards. Come on. And even that one is arriving in 2021. And even if you cut the specs in half, you still get a monstrous card that's more complex than 2080ti or VII.

No help is coming, 350$ is the new normal for cards that used to cost around 200-250$. You can thank miners for getting us here sooner than otherwise. On the bright side, I'd expect the price to stay at this level for a while now, margins are definitely healthy if AMD could just go and drop the price by 50$ ahead of launch.

Intel is targeting 2020 and we don't really know where they will land in the market place:
The significant of Intel entering the market is that they will be made on Intel's 10nm process. AMD and NVIDIA have to move in price lockstep because of the shared TSMC source. Intel's foundries can put pressure on them both to make them more cost-competitive.

I'll tell ya Ford...

For the life of me...I never thought I'd be contemplating the purchase of an AMD processor with "perhaps" an Intel graphics card...but it MAY just happen.

I'd say stranger things have happened....but as of right now...I'm coming up with nothing.

I rememeber when i bought 3DFX-Vooodo cards, i thought its actually was xpensive to DIY, but i kept on.
Now i blame the prizes to mining.

Your opinion is clear but really? Intel MB's priced just as bad or worse then x570 were talking poor pricing here and I think x5700 should be cheaper.

That's the problem. You think it should be cheaper but it isn't. Every time new tech is out, and with x570 it's obvious, it has higher price. It requires more demanding power, also heat radiators and even fans etc. Anyway it will become cheaper with time but definitely not this year. You have an alternative with x470 and that's what matters at this point. Backwards compatibility so you have a choice. You can go x570 but you don't have to. This is important and it would seem you are missing the point here.
With Intel you have not much option here. You have to go with the new board and new socket to accommodate new CPUs. So you need to pay extra for the new board. I'm surprised you've missed that and still hanging on the x570 price so high. Besides Intel doesn't offer much extra with the new boards tech. It is basically same as previous gen processors had it's just socket change and extra price on top of it. So moaning about a x570 bords' price, while it's got new stuff, with x470 alternative there so cheap now, is like looking for a reason to argue.
