If you're a fan of the game, I would highly recommend trying fakefactory cinematic mod 2013 for half life 2, including the release of all available 3rd party mods in cinematic fashion - called EXTRA CHAPTERS, also do try CSS sci fi 3 hardwired mod, an amazing counter strike source developement with single player.

Yeah, Cinematic Mod is gorgeous.... well, except for Alyx. He never got her looks right, after many attempts...
But if you ignore that, it's a massive upgrade over standard HL2, similar in style and looks with B.M.

Would be interesting if Valve could somehow get involve in merging that mod into a "Remastered" Half Life, starting with Black Mesa Inbound and finishing with T-Minus One, in one continuous game including both games + ep1/2 (and their respective mods/remakes).
But that's probably just a pipe dream, it will never happen...

I just wish they'd get off their ass and Finish HL3.

:)

That's been going on for longer than Twice the DNF development time now.

That will be the standard from now on; 2xDNF, 2.5xDNF...

:)

What I don't get is why this topic is a thing now...

Black Mesa has been around for ages...
It was announced in 2005(? or something) and finally released in 2012 (but there were playable beta versions before that)

And we're still waiting for the Xen part, which STILL isn't ready in 2019
Black Mesa probably tops Duke Nukem Forever as the game that took FOREVER to make...

Oh, and it was free, for a good while, before finally being Greenlit on Steam and sold there.... Early Access. Funny, for a game that has been announced 14 years ago.
It’s being made by a mod group and is top to bottom remake. Of course it will take awhile. I was part of a M2TW mod team for about 6 months, and everything is distributed via messaging and email.

Every portion assigned will take lots of back and forth, lots of peer review, assistance, etc. then when the part you did gets integrated and doesn’t work it’s back to the drawing board to revise for multiple persons. That’s what working on a mod team is like.

And i dont even mention the So-many-years-in-the-making, and still is in TBD mode, the guard duty and operation black mesa mods, they got steam greenlight, but I dont see the end of it. It is like black mesa, but with opposing force and blue shift

Like Duke Nukem Forever(an appropriate name)? :)
We can only hope, but no one is holding their breath..

Note the smiley in my post, lol.

We know that HL3 isn't even being worked on now. :(

That said, I'm happy that they did finally release DNF; it was kinda link a bunch of episodes of completely different styles all mashed together, but I had fun.
Yey, I have the Statue, lol. (They should have included a "Sucker!" tatoo for the forehead of everyone who paid for the box set, lol.

I have several CDROMs of Duke games from bitd, and we actually played ALL of them, and kept the best ones in a separate folder.

I still have all the maps we liked, from everything from Duke to Crysis Wars, lol.

We still play Q2:Ground Zero; it runs on everything. :)
We play a little differently, tho; We enable cheats, you get one "give all" when you come in, and one everytime you kill someone.
GZ has a nuke, several types of "Spheres" that do various things, and a doppelganger, which makes for some effective gameplay.

People are so worried about the doppelganger, that sometimes I just stand out in an open area, and act like one, until someone gets close, lol.
