Hello all,

I'm looking around for a new case for my current system, and i stumbled across the Antec Performance One P180B. I really need to get rid of my old one because it sounds like a freaking jet engine and it sucks up dust like nothing else.

Essentially, I want the computer to be relatively quiet, but still have good cooling at the same time.

Has anyone had any experience with this case? How well does it work? Is it really quiet? How is airflow/ventilation?

Link Here

I can pick this thing up for about $40 @ frys this afternoon, but I want to get an opinion on it first.

Thanks!

I considered getting the aluminium version of this at one point, and from almost everything I've read about it suggests it's a pretty decent case. If you can get it for as little at $40 I'd definately say it's a good deal, it's got more features than most other (if not all) cases in that price range.

Just look at the review on NewEgg and Ebuyer, nearly all of them are very positive, plus it looks quite neat (unless you're into case modding with all the lights and windows ect). If I had the money to spare, that's the case I would get :)

Yea, its $120 @ frys, minus $40 mir, and then i have $40 store credit. good stuff.

I'm not into the whole flashy lights and window thing, at least, not anymore. they get way to annoying. plus, if you have a window, you gotta make sure the inside looks good. and since i'm lazy..... heh. this is NOT a case i'd punch holes in.

i personally dislike the case, its weird....cable management is a waste (and this restricts airflow), and its not tool less. Also you cannot do water cooling due to very little space in the separate compartments or put much of anything. It a very crammed case (and i mean very!). And over all the case is like 75% plastic.

i thought the plastic was for noise dampening? I really don't care too much if its cramped... i just want it to be quiet. and isn't it possible to run cabling under the motherboard?

I used to work with frys service dept and this case was popular, so i personally built a lot of them with this case...

as you see, there is zero space under the board....if you dont have thin/modular cables, it will rub against that fan, dumb asus didnt thing of placing a fan guard between.

That "barrier" they put between mobo and psu is the worst thing ever...wish you good luck to find a psu with a 20-24 inch 20/24 pin cable, with a 30-36 inch 4pin...now my htpc case also had this, but it also came with the psu, and the cable is much longer than usual.

Now with no way to tuck cables, it restricts air flow...i ended up reversing the fan on top for intake.

overall the case is silent, but the form does not meet function very well.

aaah i see...

i still might give it a try. for $40, it HAS to be better than my olde raidmax scorpio. it has random holes punched out all over the thing and its loud as heck.
