IMO - the kind of money that youre spending wouldnt be worth it. If youre just cooling a 3770k an NH-U12 or NH-U14 would be plenty.

I would rather get a premium heatsink like a NH-D15 or any of its competitors for the same money your h150i pro cost you.

You know, the H100i cools my 3930k fine at 4.75Ghz on all 6 cores which is almost a difference of 300w between idle and fully loaded off the wall, so even the H150i is probably overkill.

Just as point of note - I had a H80i cooling a 3930k@4.6Ghz for a year before i upgraded to a H105. the H80i cooled it pretty well.

I have 9900k@4.9ghz 1.27v and it hit 88c within 5m in realbench with the h150i pro

The h115i platinum is technically better than the h150i. You could add better fans to the h150i and shave 2-3c off your temps depending on ambient.

A 9900k can hit 90c pretty fast on an open loop. To me that would be your best option if you want an improvement. Pretty much any cooling type except sub ambient will struggle with a 9900k

I'm in a similar position with a 9900k@5GHz/115i and after a lot of research my conclusion is a better cooler won't help. All the top coolers are within a degree or two for an overclocked 9900K. The problem is in the CPU. It just can't release the heat fast enough. Delidding helps, but to really solve it I'd have to sand it down too. I decided to just let it run hot, like many others pushing a 9900k. Really these 90+ temps are extremely common when overclocking this chip. Some people even use the 115C TJ max and let it go over 100C, though personally I wouldn't. It sucks but I don't want to pop the top off this thing till the price drops.
