I would like to know if anyone here has bought Open box items from Newegg and their experience. I know Newegg service is awesome, but before I make a purchase I just wanted some thoughts on this.

I am debating at buying a AGP X800 GTO Open Box or NEW AGP X1600 PRO. I know I am comparing apples to Oranges. But I am looking at low price with decent performance with BF2.

Thanks and much appreciated.

usely they test them so I would think their just fine but no I have not. I have gotten a lot of open box from best buy and never had a problem. and My x800xt blows my 1600 smooth away in fact in 3dmark05 my 9800 pro beat the 1600

Thanks.

I am looking at HIS X1600 Pro 256 MB AGP version. I read lot of people telling about temperature and how well this handles, I mean the case and CPU temp are comparatively low than other ATI specific coolers. I guess if I buy the 800 GTO I have to install Arctic Silencer/cooling on it to bring down my overclocked Mobile XP's temp!!!

And oh, I have a 2 year old Allied/Apex 500 watt in my system. Will that hold for a while or should I better buy a new one?

5850+ is lower than most 850's i think, i get 6848 in 3d05 with my x800GTO2

i love newegg, but if you are thinking about getting an openbox x800 with thoughts of unlocking it, i have seen that alot of the open box x800's are returned because they didn't unlock, so there is a lower chance of unlocking. but i think the x800's are great cards, and the x1600's are sick too, with their sm3.0 (HDR, etc)but not fast enough to fully enjoy those features. i think one of the x1600's biggest draw is it's crossfire compability, but unfortunately you lose that with agp (cf would make this card more likely to pull off all the cool effects at reasonable rates/resolution), so my vote goes with the x800 between these two. i would keep my eye out for maybe an nvidia 6800, or x850 agp tho, just because sometimes the agp versions of these cards can dip down into these prices, esp w/ open box.
good luck tho!

show me a 9800pro or xt that hits anywhere near 5000 on 3dmark 05 ive just done a search and the highest score on 05 with a XT not a pro is 4170 nearly 6000 with a 9800 my ass

show me proof of this as it has to be a new world record for any kind of 9800
