I am building a new PC and my MB has 4 pcie slots 2-16x and 2-8x and I need them all. The way the board is configured and the hardware I am using would mean that I need to install my primary video card which is dual slot for cooling in the 2nd of the two pciex16 slots and use the 1st pciex16 slot for either my dedicated physx card which is single slot or my raid controller. I am sure it will work but I have always heard that the #1 pcie slot is always for the primary graphics card. Is there any downside to using the #2 pciex16 slot for main graphics?
