Any way to get the BIOS signature back?

I have an RX460 (ASUS Strix Gaming 4gb) which I modded a while back. Got a (supposedly) stock rom from the database in this site but it still displays (Code 43). I know about the patcher which I'm using right now, but was wondering if there is a way to restore the "cryptographic signature" PolarisBiosEditor talks about. That way I can have my card back to stock and don't have to re-patch the drivers every update.

Have you got a picture of the white stickers on the back of the card to find the correct bios for your particular model?

Also might want to check https://www.overclock.net/forum/67-...os-editing-rx5xx-rx4xx-106.html#post_25699216 for info

@eidairaman1

I have only found one sticker that seems useful (the other one I see has general ASUS information).

It's the one with a barcode. On top it says: "STRIX-RX460-4G-GAMING" and on the bottom there is what seems like a serial number. Is that useful?

I checked that thread but I want a more "factory" solution in case I want to sell this card in the future.

...a way to restore the "cryptographic signature"...
Short answer: No

Why would people be doing anything else if they could just fix the signature?

Hint: Cryptographic = encrypted = you don't have the key...you don't get to interpret the data(much less do anything useful with it)

Flashing the correct bios should get him back to stock settings which is what he would rather than using the patcher everytime

I hope that. I guessed "cryptographic" just meant that it was a hash for the bios data, so if you have the same data you get the same signature.

Also isn't the signature lost only when you modify it? So if I got an untouched rx460 I could pull the rom with GPU-Z and then flash it on to mine. Right?

He is very fortunate there are only 10 files in unverified, i will post all the micron based ones

Do not flash until told to do so

Instructions for Flashing

1. Download this first file below
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/189109/189109

2. Download AMD/ATI flash
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

3. Disable Antivirus/Anti Malware tools.

4. Open Up AMD Flash, follow directions in AMD Flash and find the file you just downloaded. Flash the card, restart when Prompted.

5. Additional Help can be found in these videos and links in my signature

Only use these in event first file failed.

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/189485/189485

Last one is for OC model
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/206260/206260

You may need to remove and reinstall the gpu driver as well.

Make sure you have the latest chipset driver for the motherboard installed.

I just completed my post above, might need to tag person in and possibly send a private message.

Care to do the honors?

Quoting both to answer everything.

I wasn't very clear. I flashed multiple bios multiple times so I already have AtiWinFlash, don't worry about it, and have tested the BIOS's in this database. The 3 "verified" ones have different Vendor, Device, Sub, etc. IDs so I won't and can't flash them.

You'll have to help me out with the "unverified" ones since I don't know how to see them all.

The "189109" BIOS you sent me is the one I said I flashed beforehand. It's already the BIOS in my chip, problem is it still doesn't have the signature (I un-patched the driver using Pixel Clock Patcher, restarted and got Code 43).

Also to keep you informed I sent emails to both AMD and ASUS about this and hoping to get an official rom file. Will keep updated.

And thank you for helping me out.

small update: I carefully scanned Polaris Bios Editor and noticed this:

1550720352955.png

Shouldn't the "Sub ID" be "0x04B2" with a zero?

UPDATE:

Found it! It was: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/189485/189485

There were some minor differences in the checksum.

What I get from this is that even when they all come from the same factory they are flashed with BIOS's that have small differences so you have to try and fail a lot until you find the one that matches your exact same card.

Gonna be doing a clean install of the drivers through DDU to be sure it is working correctly, followed by some stability tests.

Thank you a lot.

Oh didn't see that.

I already lost half of my hair because of the hassle flashing has got me through, so I don't plan to do it again in the meantime. Though I wanna ask, is it true that the ROM can wear off from re-flashing a lot? That's what I'm really curious.

Well theres a potential for glitching to happen, so yea just dont be flashing every 10 minutes etc
