My friend back home has been telling me how his 880K is hitting like 88C during the startup, and as soon as he loads his OS it crashes, I honestly don't know what could be causing his CPU to hit 88C, booted into safe mode (Windows 7 Professional) and tried to see what was going on when we noticed that temperature. No processes look out of place, his drivers are up to date. Like what the hell? It will not boot to normal desktop, but will to safe mode.

He's using a Hyper 212 EVO, and even when he swapped to other coolers (has an Arctic cooler from his old pc) it still hits 85C+ He did overclock, wait, let me ask if he did any voltage shenanigans.

Okay he had his voltage at 1.65. Yeah, told him to basically set his profiles to default and see if it worked. Waiting on response.

He says its running pretty stable at the moment, ran AIDA-64 a couple of times, and he hasn't had any heat issues he hovers at 67C with the Arctic cooler.

Under load, he says he doesn't want to overclock anymore haha I think the threat of frying his CPU has put the fear of god in him lol

He obviously didnt know what he was doing overclocking. Tell him to leave it alone at this point, I've had to tell some people to leave their bios alone if they wanted to maintain my warranty coverage.
