Ok so I just bought two Asus EAH4870x2 cards, I put them in right away when I got home.
The first thing I noticed was, that there was something wrong with the system after I had installed the drivers (it is obviously not a driver problem I checked after a restart and deletion of the drivers and it was the same problem). So I checked what it was and found out that out of my 4GB of system memory (only registers like 3.3GB on my 32 bit Vista OS) there was only 2558 accessible.

So my question is: How come the gfx cards are acting like they have the Hyper Memory feature when it is not mentioned with a single word on the box or on the web anywhere???

Please enlighten me

if I'm correct, 32 bit windows can only address a total of 4 gig's of RAM, including system RAM, video RAM, soundcard RAM, and anyother type of RAM that might be in the system. When you installed the two x2s, you added more video RAM, thus taking away from the system RAM your OS can address

BTW, I only have 2.75 gigs of RAM addressable with my gx2 installed, and if I went quad SLI, I'd lose another 512 meg(atleast that's how I understand it)

Each of those cards has 2gb of RAM. Thats 4gb gone on both, but it's gonna save some for system memory. Thats from my understanding of memory under a 32bit OS.

Well that sucks cause I cant play Crysis on very high setting with 1900x1200 res because the system runs out of memory or run 3DM Vantage for that matter.
How did the Reviewers do that then when I cant. I thought not all of them used the 64 bit version of Vista.

well hell If that is how the 32bit version works then fuck 32bit windows :/

Which reviewers did 4870x2 CF on 32-bit?

Just save yourself the hassle and get Vista x64, works brilliantly :)

Indeed Barbaric
that will be on my list for this pc. but it is so damn expensive here in the Faroe Islands.

But then ill need some more system memory right? or do 4gigs work fine on Vista 64bit?

yeah, Jmatt was the one to suggest vista 64, not me(although I back that suggestion). 4 gig's will be fine on vista 64 as you'll be able to use all your system ram and all your video ram, 8 gigs would be better though ;) .

and now, you see why the people who tell you 64 bit is crap or worthless are wrong :D

your 32 bit key will work in 64 bit, so you just need to source an install DVD from somewhere.
