They really ramped up the challenge on this one. Infected hopping on your buggy, volatile hives that can be hard to find, let alone clear before night ends, toads spewing at you, and exploders and hazmat zombies causing more infected to come.

I've unlocked the safe zones in the north end of the map, but it's hard to even find a lot of the ones in the south, and it's not easy traversing the terrain at night if you get caught out late.

I started a bit too soon maybe, at Survivor level 10, vs the suggested 12, but still, despite it all, it was just what I was hoping for. This has given the game a renewed sense of desperation and horror, and at the same time it's a gas, literally.

Seems easy to do, talked to 3 people in the add on and 22% though it lol. Looks like most of it's crappy challenges and stuff ( console fluff ).

Not all the challenges are what I'd call "crappy", esp the buggy races. The main game was what had crappy challenges if you ask me, like constantly throwing the break zombies legs, etc stuff at you. At least here they put more into it.

I don't care about challenges, as i said it's console fluff. Done 3 missions now and 54% though.

Would enjoy it much more if story was more of a focus. That said love the map but all so hate some of the restrictions on when you can and cannot use say the grappling hook.

All so hate how they made the races use exclamation marks as these were strictly for side quests so it's more ooh whats over there and O it's a challenge again.

But yeah they put more effort in them but has 0 benefit to me.

Yeah it's probably not the DLC for you then. I do mostly side quests/challenges as I go, because I know most RPG content games are heavier in those than they are in main quests, just the way it is. You CAN however use them to build your upgrades.

That said, I was kinda shocked at how fast the end of story main quest came, but it was a good one.

Not always the case. Radio Boy for instance clearly does not. In fact most that have anything to do with the main story don't really do anything to help you find out about the true source of the actual following.

...helping people progresses the story percentage.
Story "percentage" of completion is one thing, but you said the story itself. All you're really talking about is the trust system. Hell, you can gain trust points just from using the wrench to tighten leaking spots in the water pipeline, but does it add to the "story" quests, not really. It's just filler side stuff.

Techland aren't really that good at minor details. Like the fact that literally NONE of the buggy challenge icons change or show any info once you've beaten them. So you have to rely on memory alone, or go to them and click on them to see if you've beaten them.

Same with any of the random sub challenges that have onscreen prompts as you're driving along.

Well, finished up my Normal run of The Following. Pretty much did everything but a few of the random road challenges that pop as as you're driving. I did leave a lot of collectibles like some racing trophies and most flags, but I plan to continue via New Game+, so I'll keep accumulating them.

I managed to get through all the hives using no UV flares, so I have them if I need them for Hard and Nightmare runs. I'm finding Camo II is as useful as UV Flares in Hives, and helps get through them before night even ends.

I WAS kinda freaked out by two hives that were sort of in a connected tunnel area though. Apparently they do not qualify as same type hives as caves or deep tunnels, because the volatiles didn't leave them at night.

In retrospect I suppose it would have been easier had I done those in the day, but I only died a few times between the two of them, so not too bad, especially considering how many volatiles there were in such a small place with not many places to hide, and using no UV Flares.

I'm not entirely sure how to do a NG+ for The Following, since there's no such option in it's Advanced Play menu, but I assume I can just start a NG+ for Campaign, then play through the Prologue again, then start The Following on Hard with all my gear and skills carried over. Anyways, going to try that after backing up my savegame.

Good night, good luck.

PS, I found out recently Techland is working on another DLC for the game. Also, by next patch they plan to have a toggle for Chromatic Aberration, which many have requested ever since the game came out a year ago.

Just beat the main game on Hard. The fight with Tahir was a pain, lost lots of Legend points. I'm going to play The Following again, this time on Hard via New Game +.

In case anyone else has the same problem as I did, having Bozak Horde enabled as a quest will not allow you to start a New Game +. NG+ won't even show in the menu unless you track or start another quest.

I had finished the game and all main and side quests, so I thought I was screwed, but I had not done the Quarantine Challenges. Having a Quarantine Challenge tracked allows NG+, which I found out by reading a forum response after Googling.

I've also been running VSync through the AMD Crimson panel lately. It produces better visual results than the in-game Vsync, and is more optimized.
