i call shennanigans and that means junk if there 450 and 550 watt models are anything to go buy id expect that 1k watt to last a month or 2 with at a 500watt load

a corsair 850 or PCP&C 800+ watt will wipe the floor with that Xion hell even a PCP&C silencer 750 or corsair 750 is probably hands down far better then that psu.

That's what i was thinking but then there are some good and bad review of it, I don't know what to make of it yet, but then again for like 70 bucks more is the modular 80+ certified corsair

First mind if I ask why you would want/need a 1000 watt power supply?

Also I'm sure it isn't that great of quality.

I'm gonna get a q9650 and get WC for both my GPU and CPU

go with a good 850watt corsair or 750watt corsair thats modular both will easily handle that no problem PCP&C is what i use but both corsiar and pcp&c are close in price for 750 watt models

im running my setup in my system specs and it still hardly stresses my psu

besides that xion must have a horrible efficiency rating

Honestly there won't be much of a difference between your current 9450 to a 9650 to merit the upgrade. At least in my opinion, I'm sure others would back me up on this. I doubt you're pushing your current chip to its max. Also you probably wouldn't notice any speed bump if you're at similar clocks. I didn't notice any difference between my x3 720 @ 3.6 and my i7 920 @ 3.8. It feels very similar in desktop.

Not trying to burst your bubble but it really isn't worth the money.

Perhaps try for a p55 if you were looking for newer hardware. Even still it won't be that big of an upgrade.

Why not just bump your current processor a bit more? You won't be getting much bottle necking from that quad as it sits anyway.

ya i'm suspicious of that thing having SIX 12v rails, at 20/20/20/35/35/20 amps.... that's odd enough right there to steer me away considering the 12v rails alone add up to 1800W...?

Just looking at your overclocking thread, did you ever try clocking with just 2 sticks of memory instead of all 4? Had an issue with my old Core2 set up with all the slots populated, took more volts. If you're looking for a board, there were some good deals for the higher end 775 boards floating around the b/s/t forums a few weeks ago.

If you're board is having issues overclocking quads, then the 9650 MAY help. But that processor is expensive especially considering you can get a i5 + board for near the new cost of that processor alone.
