Anyone have experience with Asrock Professional Gaming Series?

Looking for a z370 Motherboard. Genuinely interested in the Asrock Professional Gaming series. I've never owned an Asrock mobo before and the variations are quite confusing. Any insight is appreciated, thank you.

ive had amazing luck with Asrock over MANY years, i always go to asrock first when building a new PC, IME/IMO you cannot go wrong with them. I have never bought a "gaming" edition, but i own Pro series, Extreme series (both of several iterations), and they are great. I dont recall ever seeing a "gaming" edition to any of their mobo's, it might be a newer model, unless somehow i have missed it over all these years, but i cant imagine you'll be disappointed, unless something has seriously changed.

I've also had 100% good luck with the 4 or 5 Asrock boards purchased over the years. Some were the embedded boards with Atom SOCs soldered to the board, and these all worked great for a low cost basic desktop or HTCP. A couple Z87 and H110 boards, all worked great. Never had a warranty claim, so I can't rate their customer service dept. Their boards are well built, with decent components, even their budget boards. Lately, I really like their Taichi branded boards, which all get great reviews, regardless of platform (Z270, Z370, X299, AM4), and are reasonably priced. The board you are interested in (Fatal1ty Z370 Professional Gaming i7 - http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty Z370 Professional Gaming i7/index.us.asp ) looks like their flagship Z370 offering, a good deal for $290 - I want one! Or, if money is tight, at least a Z370 Taichi (http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z370 Taichi/index.us.asp3), for $220. I used to buy mostly Asus, but lately it seems their quality control is slipping, and they're still the highest priced boards. Asrock seems to be stepping up their game these days, and at lower prices than Asus. If you go for one of their boards, I would love to hear about your experience, as I will most likely go with Asrock when I build my 8700K system.

Also good experience with both an AsRock prebuilt HTPC (ancient now, it runs XP, still does, as if new), and a couple of ITX boards. No exp with the ATX ones but will have soon, probably.

Going to go with their flagship z370! My 8700k should be here by the end of the month! I'll let you know how the mobo is !!

It will be solid... has good VRM, good features...

Really, there isn't a need for such a flagship board. Id bet money says you can save $150 and be just as happy.

yup. their Extreme MoBo's are kick ass, i love my Extreme4(usually in the $130+ range), same with My extreme3 z68 (still in use to this day after over 5 years of heavy use). good UEFI, good Ram OC capability, Great CPU OC options. even their "H" series boards were nice. I loved that My H97 Overclocked really well with My 4690k. Id say 8.5-9/10 would be my rating.

Any board would be a good alternative.

The reality is that 90% of ENTHUSIASTS can use a bottom barrel Z board and overclock well enough and have enough features to be happy. Where most people clock, boards just don't matter. Base it off of features you need, aesthetics, and price.

Surely you do not need a top of the line board.

AsRock used to be the "budget" offering, but over the years, they've proven they can make good stuff across entire price range, from budget stuff to mid end and also enthusiast boards for +400€. I personally never owned one, but I've basically heard nothing but good stuff about them and if I didn't opt for X99 plaform, I had AsRock's Z170 offerings shortlisted back in the day. I just wasn't sure about the fan controls which is what kinda pushed me away. ASUS and MSI have that covered superbly.

I have generally gone with ASRock when building. My first experience with them was a bit iffy. The MB I picked up (K10N780X3SLI-WiFi) had some odd issue with functioning properly with GPUs and drivers. I had good customer experience with their tech team and after explaining everything I've done and a few suggestions from them, I had to RMA with newegg and get a replacement. The replacement board worked without a hitch.

I then picked up a Z87 Extreme 4 - worked perfectly. After cleaning out some case fans and blowing out the tower, my system wouldn't come back up. Lots of troubleshooting and no results pointed to a dead MB. I hit up MicroCenter and picked up a Z97 Extreme 5. Got home and the board was DOA. Went back to MicroCenter and got an ASUS z97-AR that I'm currently using.

My Z87 was still under warranty and ASRock replaced it (I have it in my second computer now).

I've had decent experience with their boards and I've had great experience with their customer service. I'd recommend them for someone looking to build a new computer.
