Anyone here has Intel repair your cpu?

I bought insurance and they replaced one of my CPUs when I blew it up overclocking. No idea if they will help you out if you delidded.

For the record my cpu replacement direct with intel was probably the best RMA experience of my life tbh

Basically no warranty. As for trying to repair, maybe watch a few vids on soldering, maybe there is someone who knows how/experienced, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I see a few youtubes where a guy transferred gpu chips between cards!!! Way beyond my skills and special tools required.

But yeah, @mrthanhnguyen you delid the CPU, warranty is voided. If you can find a local shop to do the SMD repair, that is the best course of action.

The problem is I dont know which smd need to be replaced and where to buy. I can solder it by myself.

I slid off like 4 SMDs on my 4790K, still work fine to this day (gave it to my brother and he plays game everyday)

You're straight out of luck. Buy a new cpu.

There all capacitors. The CPU should still work without them. Replacing them is easy, & in-fact I tend to go a little further & fill-in the unused pads. I do this on all my best binned delidded CPU, de-solering the capacitors off poorly binned CPU.

Anyway it's an easy repair for those with the right tools, but i would leave it as-is if you don't have the skill. You also have some switching noise protection from the motherboard capacitors, normally located behind the CPU socket. So it't not a great loss.

EDIT CORRECTION: Only AMD CPU has capacitors. I've only worked on AMD CPU's. ..Intel CPU's may have resistor(s) as well as capacitors.

Pretty sure (100%) that Deliding of any CPU regardless of manufacturer will automatically void your warranty instantly so you'll be buying a brand spankin new one
and if you watched the video above then you'll see just how hard it can be to resolder those tiny little SMD's and harder still if you've screwed the pad

Always practice on dead non functioning devices before attempting the real thing. I broke 3 CPU'S on my first try, but now i'm a master at delidding including soldered CPU'S.

yea exactly! the first time I delidded a CPU I bought I think 4 hunks of junk that were in the same CPU family to practice on. They were maybe $2 a piece off ebay. To be clear the "junk" CPUs worked, in fact I tested them prior to make sure they work before and after their surgery, but they just were bottom of the barrel for performance so were super cheap. I'd rather mess up a $2 CPU than a $100 CPU for example. I surprisingly didn't mess up a single one, so when I then went on to delidded the two good CPUs this whole project was meant for, it went perfectly fine

I admit thou, i was still very nervous when it came to the real thing on my best CPU. But now it's all second nature I'm posting with a delidded phenom 1100T ( soldered CPU ) which still cost a lot of money on EBAY despite it's age.

Sold that cpu and seller returned it. Its on the way back. Weird thing is I was able to run it on dark and apex board but it did not boot on his msi edge mobo. I did not pay attention to the smd after delid but the delid tool did cracked in half so not sure during shipping the smd torn off or what.

I remember knocking a bit off a graphics card once (don’t know what it was). I thought I was screwed but it worked just fine anyway. I remember commenting about it in a forum back in the day, and another poster said they used to remove stuff off of old GPUs and see how long before the card stopped working. He said he was surprised at just how many pieces came off before it wouldn’t work!

I don't see where the OP said anything about seeking warranty repair or getting an RMA. In fact, he said in his opening post he is "willing to pay to repair". So voiding the warranty is not a concern.

No such thing as a repaired CPU

Even if one could actually be repaired, the time and effort and logistics needed to troubleshoot the specific problem down to the specific fault, then the time, training, skills, and logistics needed to do the actual repair would be cost prohibitive for all concerned.

At best, they might slap the processor in a "mock-up" test bench to see if really broke or "NTF" (no trouble found). But if confirmed faulty, they would spend no more time on it, toss it in the recycle bin, and ship you out a new one.

No cpu worked fine before it went to the buyer then buyer got it and claimed the smd was off and it did not post on his set up so im still waiting it back to me.

Doesn't matter. When you get it back you will have a couple dollars' worth of precious metals - that's it ("IF" you take it to a proper electronics recycling center). Sorry.
