Hello I'm new to the Techpowerup forums, I just bought a completely new rig part by part off ebay. I bought the coolermaster staker case with one xfx 8800gtx a ocz 700 watt gameextreme psu, an Asus striker extreme 680i board, and an Intel e8400. I seen the Asus striker about 6 months ago in a store and had to have it, it just looked so darn cool, so I bought it without doing any resurch on it (I know that was dumb) then after I got everything together and went to turn it on I get the "CPU INIT" on the back LCD read out.
I called Asus about this and they said a simple bios change would fix this, I am running the 0701 bios and they said that it would not work with the new 40nm Intel e8400 cpu's. So I cant boot the pc up to flash the bios so im stuck ordring a new bios chip from "biosman" which should fix the problem.
I started to do some resurch on this board and found that almost all user seem to hate the thing which shocked me, I thought for sure it was a good board because the price was so high for it.
So my question is how many Asus Striker users here on Techpowerup have Asus Strikers and have no problems with them, has anyone out there had one of these boards for more then a year with no problems? Also I tried to find out what version of the striker I have some say that 1.0g is bad? Were do I find the version number on the board I cant seem to find it.
