The most "custom" Vega 56 I have seen so far (except Asus Strix) was a Reference Design with Raijintek Morpheus II cooler. Since I'm currently on iGPU I set my "waiting limit" to Black Friday 2017. If on 24 Nov there is still no practical info about Sapphire Vega 56 Nitro release I go for the solution from my first sentence (V56 from Sapphire, Raijintek Morpheus II core ed, liquid metal thermal paste).

I've been waiting for better custom cooling solutions for Vega as well. Looks like pricing and availability for reference cards has improved. Hopefully that's a good sign for the non-reference designs.

For Vega56 it is absolutely normal to get the ref model imho. Not excessive power consumption and temps to handle along with getting the hot air outside of the case. And a very well made PCB also. Now with the price coming close to MSRP it is well worth its price. Vega 64 on the other side needs better custom cooling for sure.

I'd like to go AMD reference Vega 64 and get custom water block. It's just i can't find any with reasonable price.

Yes, that Powercolor RX Vega 56 is the video card tested in THIS THREAD.

Only it's costs about 550 EU in Europe compared to 450 $ in US. I took a big risk replacing my Evga GTX1080 SC with that card only for the sake of providing some benchmarks to community. I never intended to keep that and i am glad that i managed sell it after 3 days with strong GTX1080 competition everywhere.

These reference models are not that bad when it comes to cooling. It managed to pass Furmark 1080P at 65 C and scored 117 FPS, provided it was managed by MSI Afterburner active FAN profile. The FAN was set at 40 %.

My previous Asus GTX980 Ti Strix passed Furmark 1080P at 70 C with 30 % FAN speed, maintained through GPU Tweak II. So "Strix" was not all that quiet after all when it came to full power mode...

A custom design Vega would be nice, but a much more important task would be to get those core boost clocks working properly and not throttling in games even when temperatures are at 50 - 60 C.

Yea, I found I never got the advertised boost clocks of the Powercolor variant. Boost is 1471MHz but mine hovered around 1447Mhz (not terrible IMO), balanced power profile. Using MSI AB with power limit increased by 50% it hovered around 1550Mhz temps reaching 83C?85C (core/memory) playing Battlefield 1. Waiting for my Kyrographics waterblock now, can't wait.

Wasn't there a Gigabyte version, or is it just for V64, if not fake/prototype?

Unlikely. This is not about the GPUs being scarce, its them barely being produced, which kills any urge to release custom cards because they'll never sell enough.

I've said it before and I'll say again: AMD wants to sell as little of Vega as they can because there is no margin on this stuff.
