Has it bricked your windows in the newer releases ?

This is the 2nd time this has happened to me.

tldr boots to blank screen

system restore wont seem to fix this.

Nope. And offhand, not sure which version I have, it is an older one though... I use W7/W10.

Windows what though? 10? 7? 3.1? What version of DDU has done this to your system? Details would help a lot.

Is DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller?

If so, I'm not surprised it's causing problems. I've not had a problem installing new drivers over old ones for years, so I doubt that this type of utility is needed anyway, except in extreme circumstances.

EDIT

I see that you're on AMD and I'm on NVIDIA, so perhaps it makes a difference here. Certainly no problems like this for me on NVIDIA since 2009 when I jumped ship to the green team.

DDU works fine the vast majority of the time. It is a common utility to use, particularly among those that benchmark or are having trouble with drivers after repeated installs. This is the first I have heard of this happening (doesn't mean it couldn't be an issue, but, I see ((too many)) forums).

Yes Display Driver Uninstaller
I used DDU v15.7.5.5 on windows 8.1

The last time this happened I thought it was my own fault , but same thing exact happened as now.

I wanted to update to crimson 16.4.1 from 16.3

using my windows 10 drive currently, this sucks

not familiar with ddu, when i need to remove AMD drivers, i just go to add/remove programs list, click "change" ,then un-install all. i know its obvious, but cant hurt to mention. I used to use that AMD driver cleaner thingy that they have on theyre site, but i lost it.

How did you setup your drives? I see you have two with different Windows on it. Could it be the boot loader botched up or something with the use of DDU? That said, I have multiple drives with multiple OS's on it as well.. but all were installed without the other drives being plugged in... no issues here, though. I do wonder if it is a Crimson thing...

I have around 8 drives all are unplugged currently I also unplug everything when installing fresh.

I use f11 to choose boot drives, so no multibootloaders if you mean that.

I talking to the DDU creator on twitter atm.

We couldn't figure this out. I told him I would backup my stuff and clean install.

He said sorry for the trouble.

I just used DDU a few days ago before installing the newest AMD drivers, and no issues; I've never had issues with it before either. In fact, every time I run it twice for good measure, in safe mode, and that's usually after running it once in regular mode.

I noticed there was an update the other day but I didn't update it, was in a hurry

I have never used it. I have never had a driver issues that uninstall and reinstall won't fix. At least not in about ten years and ATIs big mess.

Natron can you boot in if you hit the F8 while booting then click "last known good" or disable driver signature?

I've used DDU about three times no issue's all on Nvidia cards.

I tried about everything just blank screens. I'm even using an nvidia backup card (8600gt) hoping to bypass any conflicts and still acts the same(boots to black/blank screens).

I just need to backup a few files and reformat.

I'm not using it anymore because retarded Windows 10 keep installing some old ass driver from nowhere after every cleanup. So, it's pointless to do cleanups.

I haven't used DDU since i got Windows 10, but it's known that it can cause problems after uninstalling video card drivers and so.

If i want a to make sure I get all the regs for what i am uninstalling i use Your Uninstaller or just remove it in programs and features and than run ccleaner afterwards a few times.

I do not encounter such issues regarding WU... and even if you have M$ has issued a KB fix blacklisting your problem driver.

It's not even WU. I went the length of unplugging LAN cable to disable WU nonsense and it still installed drivers from fucking somewhere. Like it's still storing them in some hidden cache or something.
