aorus rx 580 8gb overheating, even though already change thermal paste and I've tested on furmark, core clock not running at default (1365MHz) and getting hotter and hotter around 86-88, at least it should running at 1365MHz until thermal throttle, but it's not. core clock running at lower than default around 1xxx-12xxMHz what happen with it?

Silicon lottery can also effect the temperature of the GPU and CPU. Not every same graphics card model would run on the same temperature but it varies widely. I once bought what was suppose to be the coolest air cooled graphics card as said by multiple reviews only to find it overclocked terribly and thermal throttles under full load under long gaming sessions, it ran totally fine for me though so i guess its up to you if you want to replace it or not

DON'T USE FURMARK. It destroys GPUs.

Open your favourite monitoring software and look at your temperatures in-game on real life workloads.

You boost clocks are not sustained beyond a certain temperature. For example that's 70 °C for my Vega 56. After you go over, the clocks go lower. That's how boost clocks work. ;)

Real problem is it have ever been normal before 2-3 weeks earlier,I got black screen and temperature hadn't been normal until now

idle is around 47-51 but when I play games, temp is up to 86-87 at the same.

Maybe see if the contact between cooler/die is good. What thermal paste did you use? Maybe something is wrong with the fans or fan profile?

Phill and I had ten of the 480s and they ran at 70 to 75c with 100% fan speed. The ASUS STRIX in comparison ran at 42c with under 50% fan speed, same speeds and configuration.

You can’t fix it unless you buy a different card. They seriously suck for thermals.

Whats your room temperature like, what case are you running it in?

Take pictures of the rig front and side and with side panel open too.

Remember 1 thing, Gigabyte cards are low end compared to powercolor/asrock/visiontek/his.

You understand my problem, right? my room temp around 32-35 no air conditioning, but it fine until 2-3 weeks earlier when I got blackscreen and wattman reset. So I wander my card may broke or something

Wattman reset due to overheating. Your room temperature is quite high, but the aftermarket cooler should still be able to cool the card properly. Try using Display Driver Uninstaller and do a fresh install for the drivers. Links here.

DDU
latest drivers as of 3/8/2019

Edit: also check if the fans spin up properly with temperature increasing

You could try undervolting the card after making sure nothing else is 'wrong'.

70-75 is like the normal temp for the RX cards.

I had the Aorus Xtreme RX 580 around for testing purposes and that card also stayed in the ~70+ range while staying silent with 100% default wattman settings.

Currently using a Gigabyte RX 570 Gaming 4g with a stable undervolt and it never goes over 73 celsius while gaming and my room can also get quite hot during summer.
Fan speed is set to wattman default which is like dead silent.

I wouldn't call them low end maybe the entry models,I did not own any Asrock RX card but from what I read in reviews they don't have better temps and are even louder with the default fan curve.

Does that case have a fan in the bottom? What is the airflow setup on the case?

Aye,that temp is suspicious for sure and it should be lower even with that high room temp.

Some good advices were given here, lets wait for the OP for updates. :)

Those environment temps are the main cause for the heat problem. Over 30C is more than it should for any heat producing electronic as the air cannot cool it being warm itself. Try keep room temeprature under 28C and chech again. And never use furmark. AMD and nVidia have placed security switches that lower the clocks when such a dangerous for the health of the components program is running the GPU.

your problem is high ambient temperature on a power hungry card with mediocre cooling.this thing pulls 60w more than stock 1070 and runs hotter despite the aftermarket colling

nothing you can do about it really other than getting a more power efficient card with better cooling like msi/evga 1660

Thats the Aorus Xtreme, theres 2 different Aorus models.

OP has the 'normal' Aorus with a different cooler,Xtreme is supposedly Giga's 'premium/top' model.

Not that it makes much difference tho, they both run around the same ~70-75 celsius temps under normal circumstances.

pretty toasty for such a beefy cooler,but that's rx580.

Yep,no kidding that card has an overkill heatsink 'surprised me how heavy it was' and still heats up the same.
Xtreme does run higher clock speed but not that much to excuse it.

Dunno, even with his room temps it shouldn't go over 80c imo unless theres something else going on. '~30 is also pretty common in my room during summer heatwaves'

room temps can really heat up components, and they heat up the room too so it gets worse.
he can set a fps limit for now, check the pressure again, but I'm afraid the only way to really deal with this is a less power hungry card with better cooling.gigabyte is pretty low end compared to sapphire, msi, evga or even palit/gainward.

I got my own problems with heatwaves and my pc,gonna start a thread soon.

In this case Giga is not really worse regarding temps.

But yes, limiting FPS/Undervolting could help and I do both actually since I have my max frames limited to my max Freesync range which is 75 and this way my Giga RX 570 never overheats with default silent fan settings even during hot summer.

Running Furmark in mid-30s ambient temperatures is lunacy. Remember, 86-88 degrees is just a 50C delta at that point - which is rather normal for air cooled cards when gaming, and certainly when running a power virus load. Furmark also tends to run at lower clocks on modern cards due to the nature of the workload (though still often with higher than normal power draw - power limit throttling is mostly the reason for the lower clocks), which would be exacerbated by the high ambient temps. Remember, your 88 degrees at 35 degrees room ambient is someone else's 73 degrees at a 20 degree room ambient. 73 degrees (in Furmark!) is a relatively cool-running card. So, if you live in a place that hot, invest in a card with cooling built to match, or learn to live with some mild thermal throttling. Also, case ambient - even in a case with good airflow - is likely to be at least 5 degrees (often 10) higher than room ambient. Improving airflow through the case can help bring case ambient closer to room ambient, which might help GPU temps.
