The fastest NVMe SSD so far is the Samsung 960 Pro with 3500/2100 sequential reads/writes and 440,000/360,000 r/w iops, with the 960 Evo close behind (3200/1900, 380,000/360,000).

That's my recommendation too....the numbers don't lie, and I know that to be true because I have 2 of the 960pros in my rig, and it screeeems...

The other thing I would like about having one of these NVMe SSD as opposed to the other 2.5''(?) ssd is one less cable running through my machine. Outside of a bit faster booting I probably wouldn't have any reason for it though.
