Couple of years after we first saw Sound Blaster Live's processor, Creative made its successor - The X-Fi Chip an Audio Processing Unit that is 24x faster then popular Audigy units.
Developed in 0.13 micron technology (1.2V) with 400MHz clock speed, this new chip will be able to do 10.340 MIPS while the Audigy can only manage up to 424 MIPS.
Creative promises this won't only be a product for gamers, but also for Audiophiles and people that work with sound.

At the moment there is no official release date of a sound card with this new chip. I can only take a guess that it will be any day now since I saw the "X-Fi" option in Battlefield 2 Demo.
I'll try to get my hands on it as soon as it is released to get you some real inside.
