Arcade racers

When I was a child and I had a PS1, I loved playing games like Ridge Racer, Need for Speed, etc. Are there any games like that around these days? Systems I have are PS3, Xbox One (including backwards-compatible 360 games), and PC.

You have burnout paradise, Need for speed most wanted 2005/2012 on pc.

As for Ridge Racer you have the psp version which you can play on ppsspp emulator.
Ridge Racer 7 is on PS3 as well.

Honestly for the PS1 classics use emulators.

Last good NFS (for me at least) was Hot Pursuit 2010. Look into GRIP, it's a spiritual succesor to Rollcage if you played it on PS1. Road Redemption is also good, like Road Rash 2017.
And if you don't mind older graphics Flatout 2 is a terrific game. I play that on a daily basis, literally.
Also, Motorstorm games are great, and Driver : San Francisco.

Yeah, but OP is saying he has a 360 and PS3, so should be used to 30 FPS lock in a lot of games. There are FPS unlockers out there for the PC version from Cheat Engine and various 3rd party modders, but from what I've read they can generate AV false positives, and cause glitches in the game, like power plays not working sometimes. Some describe it as the graphics and physics not syncing, which makes me think the devs coded the game to run the physics hard locked to 30 FPS, and in turn the graphics. All no doubt to run more easily on older consoles of the time it was released in 2010.

That said, playing it on PC, as long as your hardware is up to it (easy with today's machines), is not as bad an experience as one might think. The graphics are very stylized, and they've used smoothing filters to make the lower FPS less noticeable. For sure though it's going to run as well if not better than most race games on 360 or PS3.

Let's keep in mind that a LOT of devs back in the days of the PS3 and 360 were at the mercy of what they HAD to do to make their games run on such weak hardware, and in turn what their publishers (Disney in this case) allowed them to do with the PC versions. Some are saying the PC version being 30 locked as well is due to the game's engine being locked to 30.

This was one of my favorites In the arcades before consoles were capable of rendering such graphics. It was so cool because it had the hard plastic seat that swung out for you to get in as well as a solid steel shifter man I love that game

I don't know if any of these are still available but Daytona USA was awesome , as was virtua racer, & cruisin usa & rush.

You have to play Split/Second Velocity. It has mind blowing track deformation mechanics. One of the best racing games I've played. EVER.
