I am in need of a printer this fall for school. Right now newegg has some pretty sweet deals on printers (mad I missed that $20 shipped cannon deal though  )

In the latest news letter newegg has 2 pretty good deals on printers. I am wondering which one would best fit my needs. Mostly I just need something that prints papers for cheap. Color quality is not a big deal. The most important thing is dependability and overall cost (how much is ink gonna cost me).

So here are the deals:

-Canon iP3600 2868B002 - $45 shipped w/ promo code: EMCLSMX78
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...909-_-PrinterInkjetPrinters-_-LP4A-_-28102318

-HP Deskjet 6940 C8970A - $40 shipped w/ promo code: EMCLSMX75
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1909-_-PrinterInkjetPrinters-_-L0B-_-28104014

Which one would you guys go with? Or should I wait for a better deal (don't need until August.)

Thanks :toast:

I'd say get a laser printer because unless you print regularly ink cartridges dry out and become useless (and a rip-off to replace)

Well a laser printer would be nice, but I don't think it would really fit my budget. Also I will be living in a tiny dorm room next year with a roomate so I don't have tons of space. While size isn't a huge concern. Smaller is better.

For me a laser printer would be perfect. Because it more durable to use. But the first one is also good. It all depends on you in what you will use.
