Hey guys and gals.
Question in title kind of. My boss sent me an email this a.m. stating that he would like me to design an ad to place in a local flair flyer. The ad is to be 2.5"x 3". Thing is I have no flippin idea what program to use and I really don't want to head to Staples. I have logos and such for our business. I just need a program that will allow building text and placing images in a few diff layouts. It would also need to be viewable to the people that are placing the snip it in the flyer.
Any ideas?

Might be overkill, but something like GIMP would work. It would have plenty of export options for sending off.

Is this just image editing software thou? I don't seem to be able to set up a template layout.

yeah it's image editing. use microsoft word if you already have it, otherwise, I would use libreoffice write and look for templates on that.

I was thinking you wanted to design the whole thing. You'd have to download a template to use with GIMP, yeah.

I have also heard good things about serif`s pageplus software. you can get a free trail and pay to unlock the features.. so not quite free.

I don't disagree craigo that those are the top pro apps used, I use indesign myself. however for a one off project where he wants to use templates anyway, I think a word processor would be much EASIER to use.

that being said you can't go wrong with a trial of indesign and a template, it will look 10x better it's just some more work.
