Well, I just bought the fiance' an MSI 100ME GTX 970 to replace her 660Ti. I have to say, the card is very impressive! It has a backplate too, which makes me wonder how in the world any can get sold without one. Even with a backplate, I can see the PCB WANTS to bend. It has to be downright painful to watch without one.

I did a number of unofficial benchmarks to compare mine and my fiance's system's. While not exact, they are fairly similar systems, so a GENERAL idea can be obtained by comparing benchmarks. I ran Heaven, Valley, Bioshock, and Sleeping Dogs. In all of them, the 970 ran anywhere from 2-10 fps slower than my 780. However, that's close enough to be negligible, and differences such as DRAM speed, and cpu speed, which are higher in my rig, could easily account for it. And at no time did the temperature climb higher than 57 celcius! Color me impressed!

Very nice upgrade for the lady! Almost twice as fast as the 660 Ti according to W1zzard's benches on the MSI 970 Gaming card. That Twin Frozr cooler keeps my GPU nice and cool too even without a fan curve but I do a fan curve anyway.

Yeah, I went ahead and implemented a fan curve too, just for better cooling. I'm really amazed at the leap from Kepler to Maxwell. It really is, as you say, about twice the performance!
