ryzen 1400 + ram is here, just gotta delay til after some bills are paid to upgrade to a 1700 - so i can do 4c/8t benchies if nothing else, curious to see how it runs on water vs the stock cooler (3.8ghz max on air)
A bit late but here are some quick benchmarks of the i5 8600k, some are with OC at 4.9 others at 5.0Ghz it required about 1.35V to be stable.
For 24/7 i dialed it back a little to 4.8Ghz at 1.2V with about 75ºC load temps in ROG benchmark under a SuperMega cooler with a Noctua 120mm 1300 rpm cooler.

Overall it was worth it to move from a 3770k@4.3, 16GB 2133 and a Z77 mobo. The performance gains range from about 20 to 50% depending on what i tested on.
The price was a bit much for my budget, but since i skipped the first DDR4 platform Intel and later AMD had, that was expected.

will have my ram in about 30 minutes (16GB 2667 corsair LED) - considering i moved from a 3770k at 4.7 w/ 2400 ram, our comparisons will be interesting (note: R5 1400 still, R7 1700 is waiting due to my dog getting a grass seed stuck up her nose... gotta see the financial damage from that before CPU upgrade)

edit: damn, RAM might happen tomorrow. 8GB single channel is nawt good enuff.

No hurry :)
Also a video comparison of the framerate while recording with MSI Afterburner H264 at 1440p High settings ingame.
8600k 4800Mhz
vs 3770k 4300Mhz

PUBG takes a massive steaming dump in performance in single channel, so that gives me hope moving up a few speed notches will benefit my FPS

tomorrow cant come fast enough (R7 1700 + the ram)

A bit off topic but how's your pup doing? Was it a foxtail that got stuck up her nose? I had a similar experience years ago with my Husky puppy. We were outside and he was being curious (like all puppies are. Adorable but dangerous sometimes lol) and then next thing I know, he can't stop sneezing and pawing at his nose. One of his eyes was swollen shut. The poor thing looked terrible. Rushed him to the vet and sure enough, little guy had a foxtail seed up his nose, which are especially dangerous because they got these little barbs on them and bury themselves into the area affected and cause a boatload of trouble. He could have died. He bounced back within the hours of taking him home though, glad to say.

Heh, the vet even gave me the seed they took out of his nose as a "memento" lol

Anyway, fellow TPUers, back to our regularly scheduled topic. :D

Ryzen 1700's in. running slightly lower clocks than the 1400, but double the cache and core/thread count. rams working at 2667 just fine, although according to TPU's memory test program its posting as high as 3066 but with errors.

finishing an OS reinstall now to clear out old junk (had that OS since my 2500k) before i do benchies... 3 minutes to install the latest W10 ISO from my high speed USB stick, to my SSD in UEFI mode. couldnt believe it.

dogs fine now, not sure what a foxtail is - just some grass seed stuck in the wrong place. Required minor surgery to get it out, but she's home already and mostly happy.

Sounds like a foxtail seed. they're pointed at one end and shaped like a round arrowhead with a lot of little fingers on them. Each finger is barbed to keep it from being pulled out and designed to force it further into the dog's nose. The more you touch it, the deeper it goes.

The newest Intel CPUs are just like a Foxtail in that they get under your skin and you can't get rid of them if you try.

(see what I did there?)

Yeah, that's what they look like, @Mussels -- nasty little things. Can be absolutely deadly to dogs if not caught immediately. Thanks for that, RealNeil :)
