I'm loyal to FF even tho this might be a better browser It was FF that changed the way we browse and you shouldnt forget how gay IE6 was back then...

This makes no sense at all.

I'm so used to the layout and controls in FF i will never switch back.
I also don't like the interface on all the newer ms products getting rid of the F E V menus at the top of the screen.

Microsoft recently released IE 9 which promises faster, safer and more convenient web browsing than any other browser.

Is this enough for you to give the new version a try?

No, and can't vote NO.

We need a poll option for, 'I'm still using XP, so no IE9 for me'
That's what I would choose.

IE9 is great but it has an occasional "cntrl-c, cntrl-v" and text highlight issue but other than that it is the best browser

Using both FF4 as well as IE9.

Those two are almost identical even its interface. FF has better compatibility with newer css, but FF has always had a lead on that.

Tried IE9, then switched to Chrome. I was an IE8 user before. I'm sure I would have liked it, but the folding@home GPU client makes IE9 very slow and sluggish.

On my desktop computer i mostly use IE 9 and found it to be without a problem , haven't seen hangs up or anything like that , also no viruses got trough that would mess up my computer wich is very important for those porn webistes :).
I use chrome too and found it to be very very good ( that translator really is helpfull ) but somewhat high on cpu usage sometimes , not likely to be observed on any decent desktop PC with a normal graphic card ( ati or nvidia ) but , on my laptop with a t5550 cpu and a crappy s3 mirage gpu , the cpu utilization shoots up to 50% and even more on simple webpages with some flash banners and some animated flash menu's , it's absurd and the laptop gets hot and noisy.
On the other hand Internet explorer handles these webpages with no problem , another web browser that's even better at cpu utilization is opera , opera is the least hungry browser.
I see internet Explorer the most balanced of them all , on a desktop all of them are good and it's up to the prefernces of whoever use it , Internet explorer 9 can be customized very good with all the accelerators it can offer and can beat chrome/firefox ....... in practical interface.
If we are talking speed and how fast a webpage is loaded i can't say and find it absurd to be talking about this in 2011 , i mean come on , many of us have ultra fast internet connection compared to what we had back in the dial up days , web pages load quite fast on all browsers and 1 millisecond doesn't really matter , all that matters is what features the browsers offer and the interface , stability too but all of them are stable if you stay on good websites , bad ones being warez , porn , torrents .....webistes that exploit any hole the browser might have.

Chrome is a bit better than Firefox speed-wise, but Firefox still has an add-on advantage, and the speed difference is minimal in Firefox 4. Firefox also has a slight support advantage for new technologies, but that has always been true. Chrome isn't far behind, though. In my opinion, Firefox and Chrome are both browsers any power user should have. IE9 is way more usable than previous versions, but it just doesn't come up to the mark in support of new standards, such as WebGL. It is also generally not as fast. I think IE9 is usable, but still not up to the standards of Firefox 4 or Chrome 10.

Chrome is a bit better than Firefox speed-wise

speed doesn't really matter anymore though as everything's so fast, especially if you have gpu acceleration turned on (chrome and ie can do this) no sure about firefox

Dead, at least on Windows. Opera used to be known for being a generation ahead of everyone, feature-wise, but now the reverse is true. Opera 11 doesn't support many of the new technologies Firefox, Chrome, and even IE9 do. Its addons library is not as expansive as Firefox's or Chrome's. It also isn't as fast.

Firefox does also, I believe. I agree, speed differences are minimal if you're running a powerful computer, like most of the users on these forums. However, it makes a big difference when you are running the browser on a less capable PC, which the majority of the world is.

And which technologies would those be? Only thing that comes to mind is hardware-acceleration *.
As for speed, Opera is still faster than IE and Safari, and Chrome and FF don't have a big advantage over it.

* a build with HW-acceleration exists, but it is not considered stable

Also, I can't imagine using any other browser on my laptop which connects to the internet via EDGE, as I'd miss Opera Turbo too much.

PS I think you meant to say "extensive" and not "expensive" for addons library ;)

Well, I am not as familiar with Opera as with Firefox or Chrome, so you obviously know more than I do. Just by market share numbers, though, Opera is rather dead. According to http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=0, Opera has a market share of 2.15%, though it does still remain in the top 5 browsers. And I said "expansive," not "expensive," which was exactly what I meant. :)

I've been using it since the beta and i have to say since its finalized release it is the only browser on all my systems. Yeah sure Firefox 4 supports GPU acceleration as well and is available on XP, but IT IS NOT faster then IE9 and it still uses the most memory compared to Chrome and IE9.

IE9 is simply faster and I haven't came across a single issue or a website that isn't compatibile with it.

Nice going Microsoft:toast:

Well, it works for some of us, I guess. IE9 may be no slower than Firefox, but I think Chrome is generally faster. As for compatibility, IE9 is pretty compatible, but it still doesn't support many standards such as WebGL. Compared to the old IEs, though, it's lightyears ahead.

Don't work with XP, fail.

FF it is.

I can see this limitation seriously hurting IE9 market penetration with so much of the world still on XP.
