There should be an option of "Going to try/switch to Linux".

I have a bad tendency of buying a laptop about 6 months after MS releases a new OS, and rarely do those laptops ever work right. A few months ago I was in the market for a new laptop and I bought a Dell 7706 but I returned it because it was overheating. The i7-1165g7 kept going beyond it's PL2 TDP which would cause the CPU to throttle under light loads. The CPU was hitting 99.c while running Windows updates. Impressive CPU-Z benchmark scores though. I figure it this way, I shouldn't have to mess around in the BIOS on a laptop to tame the CPU so I returned it to Best Buy. If Dell wants to run these processors beyond their rated TDP then they need to put be better CPU cooler on them, not a cooler that's fit for a 6th or 7th Gen ULP dual-core CPU.

After that ordeal, I figured I'd wait until after this shortage is over and maybe get something with a Ryzen 7 or 9 CPU.

I'm currently using a Lenovo Flex 3 that I bought in late 2015 and I have all sorts of issues with the battery and touchscreen. Sometimes the screen locks out for no reason and I have to completely disconnect the power which involves disconnecting the battery and then I can reboot the laptop.

I work for a company that serves thousands of gigantic companies, that pay us in millions of dollars a month. Our entire infrastructure runs on Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, SUSE Enterprise, we have data centers all over the world with over 100K server racks and counting. I know it sounds like bragging, but even Amazon, Google and EA are among our clients. That's right, your Google searches might go through our data centers, your online gaming session goes through our data centers if you play EA games in US, Asia and Europe, we're expanding in other places as well. Our entire portfolio of corporate products are Linux exclusive, you can't run them on Windows even if you wanted to because in the money making space Windows relevance = 0. Ever tried running Terraform on Windows, or Docker products or running anything remotely professional in the server space? Oh, that's right. Your perception of computing ends with the desktop space, so I'll tell you what Windows is good at still. Playing video games for people too scared to install Steam on Linux. And that's it. All of our developers use Linux flavors of their choosing, Manjaro, Arch, Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu, etc. All of our QAs are using it, our DevOps are all on Linux, and I swear I saw business side moving to Linux as well during the meetings. I forgot, we're adding Alpine Linux support for our Europe customers because telecoms demand it. Go on, please tell me some more how Linux relevance is zero.
Got bored of waiting for the gpu prices to go down so stop looking for one, until I upgrade by GPU I kind of lost interest in playing games.
Last thing I found interesting was Gamepass cloud gaming on my phone with Razer mobile controller other than that my daily driver become my XPS 2015 laptop that has Ubuntu 21.04.
However corporate desktop space is O365/Windows.

I would love to upgrade, but sadly, my pc/cpu isn't on the hardware list (i7-7700K) due to TPM/TPP requirement, and I'm NOT going to be forced into spending $3-5,000.00+ upgrading my perfectly good system.

My main box runs a dual boot of Linux mint and windows 10. Most of the time is spent in mint, especially after all the attention proton and mesa have gotten over the last year or so.

Laptop has Linux mint.

My media PC runs windows since my Bluetooth mouse isn't compatible with Linux. That's still 10, but it's a haswell based system and MS says that's not allowed because reasons. I am not spending money to replace a perfectly functional PC, so I'll likely move that to Linux and get a different mouse.

Moms PC already runs Linux, pile-driver laptop. Dad has an older phenom based laptop that runs 10, and will be moved to Linux because it to still works and does everything he needs. Step father runs Linux.

Only my sister will eventually get 11, since she refused to move away from Photoshop for her drawing hobby.

They said 10 would be the last Windows version. I trust them. The 2015 them. And will continue to do so until I'm forcefully cut off or made too vulnerable (in case the machines in question haven't been unplugged from the interwebz by then).

It's hard to tell what drives them with their current inconsistency (take the "no Windows after 10" mantra but also Kaby and Zen1 support). Premature disclosure (before things are polished). Trolling and provoking discussion. I dunno what it is. We may be dum dum for jumping the gun too fast for an OS that's only barely been *announced* yet... but this is sloppy work from M$ even then.

Hi,
From what I've read alt+F4 works with a little razzle dazzle with the iso
So using mbr disk/ no secure boot or tpm, no problem atm mounting an 22h1 or winmac-11 iso so franky says relax.

I moved over to Mac OS. Too many updates in W10, and I believe W11 will be just as bad. I also moved from pc gaming to PlayStation. I have no real use for windows anymore.

I might be running W11 on a spare SSD on my main system now, as well as my laptop.

Fastest and easiest install of any OS to date, within 20 minutes i was up and running with a fully ready OS.
Installed Nvidia driver, AMD chipset driver - all others came with windows updates. (My outdated 4th gen laptop needed a card reader driver, too)
Started Uconnect, steam and battle.net off my D: drive and that's it, was ready to go.

If it's a free upgrade then I may go ahead and upgrade my 2 rigs and laptop but I don't want a bunch of hassles. We've got 4 more years of free Extended Support on Win 10. MS should have Win 11 in good shape before then.

Hi,
Probably as exciting as going to see a proctologist
Or as exciting working as a proctologist and finding yourself constantly being the butt of many jokes. In Jamaica they call them Pokemon, of all things, but they do nip things in the butt.

I'm not upgrading to 11 until I have to. My new system is having Win 10 pro installed on it.

Yes, but only if one condition is fulfilled:
1. You can run APKs natively.
I don't care about anything else. BSoD being black, the Settings v. Control Panel war still going, TPM requirement, etc. If I can run APKs natively I'm installing it on launch day.
If I can't, then I'll pass on W11 for now. It doesn't have any features that interest me.

I am in the camp of wait and see approach. Always have been and always will. Microsoft has the tendency to do a lot of stupid stuff with new OS when released.

Is there a reason, why ryzen 1000-series is unsupported?

Maybe i change to Ubuntu, i'm not buying a new cpu just for Windows. Dualbooting atm.
Microsoft is debating changing that requirement, if they do change it then AMD Zen 1 (Ryzen 1x00(X) and Ryzen 2x00g chips will be supported) and Intel Kabylake (7x00 desktop/laptop series) will be supported. Not sure why they didn't mention Intel Skylake. Personally I'll probably wait a month or two at most, my system is fully supported.

Stayed with Windows 7 while most were upgrading to terrible 10. I did not lost anything yet (just had less annoying and more pleasant experiences than those who upgraded), however now the end of support is coming also by VGA manufacturers so i have to move to a more modern OS. It will be 11, which already looks better than 10 and hope without it’s annoying features.

Looks like plenty of 30 series drivers for win-7

running it since 6 weeks. no problems since then. i had not a SINGLE program that was not running since "hour Zero"!
Beside Apps from the store all programs run flawless.

Before launch in USA:
I will write a bombproof guide on how to use windows 10 board tools to perform the complete series of backup without paying anything and be able to restore 100% everything if it comes to the extreme.

If it's a free upgrade then
yes
We've got 4 more years of free Extended Support on Win 10
yes and u will not get 4 years to decide if u want to upgrade. this grace period ends in fall 2022. then $$$

APKs natively
Yes, Microsoft introduced Android apps to the Win11 app store through the Amazon app store.

Android App will run in a virtual machine with support for voice, stylus, Bluetooth networking, and more. ARM binaries will run via Intel Bridge technology, but developers will have to submit generic APK files to the app store. Intel Bridge technology is a runtime post-compiler that enables applications to run natively on x86-based devices, including running those applications on Windows 11.

Yeah, i think i can stay even an another year comfortably with Win7. However no new drivers from October, so next gen Geforces will not work, maybe with some driver mod…
HI,
Yep encouraging for me as well but 30 series is still way to pricey and not available either anyway but support is there.
More worried about linux mint seeing I use it more than win-10 on one machine I don't have win-7 installed on.

They said the same thing for 10, and yet free key upgrades galore.
