no tank can fire a ATGM on the move, as i said many time ATGM are not the best option unless you have only them as ammo (either left or pure ATGMs tank)

auto-cannon i usually use API only (or AP APFSDS) except on the Draco where i keep some ER-HEAP

example my BMD-2 loadout is 540 APFSDS + the 9M111M ATGMs


and that's comming from someone who play the CRAB in ATGM mode a lot and quite like the M1134 ATGM stryker

on kill if i remember correctly my max was 24 or somewhere near that in a Leo 2AV during a extra tense Stormy Winter 24 indeed as i had to do nearly half of the mission in solo



and one more time kills doesn't matter, damage spotting damage and spotting does (and also crew wounding or modules damaging ) and secondary objectives

Yeah I try and race to destroy the SAMs (or trucks) and spot when I can. I've started shifting from kills (unless I am low on health) to killing for most damage. Quick question. What counts as a Light Tank in game? I have a $100K daily challenge and I need the cash.

12.7mm indicates either .50 BMG (M2) or 12.7 x 108mm (Dushka/NSV/KORD), neither of those being anything more than HMG ammo, and none of those being autocannons! If any HMG is going to come within 10,000 miles of an autocannon's lethality, it would be the 14.5 x 114mm KPV, which is still like, less than 50% the performance of a mere 20mm autocannon.

The title literally says STANAG level 5 then the description describes STANAG level 4 and I'm pretty sure that protection against .50 doesn't even qualify your vehicle for STANAG level 4.

If my.com is going to fuck this game over as they have in patch 0.15 just because they are assholes and they can, at least they are giving us plenty of half-baked shit to laugh about

Premium makes the progress much quicker. Not sure if I'd like to spent any money though. Have 7 days I that I got from Alienware, along with a Premium Type 59. I am leveling up my T-72A now. Not sure if I will go to the T-80. My BMP-2 is 44% done. BMP-2 is fun in PvE but I find the armor too thin in PvP. BMP-3 with ERA seems like a decent upgrade. May get that, upgrade it a bit, upgrade my T-72A and try some more PvP.

Thinking of doing the Leopard line to. Stronger armor on the sides with a downside of a weaker gun compared to the T series if I recall. Only problem is I want a 2A5, but that will take forever. Suppose a standard Leo 2 will have to do.

Leo line after 2 (Leo 2 inclusive) is strong front and weak side, well on every tank you show your side : deadmeat

The BMP-3's armor is just as bad. If you're looking for armor, you're looking in the wrong place. The only thing that light (dunno why Kaktus is classed as "light" ERA in AW) ERA protects against is HEAT and no mid tier to high tier enemies fire shaped charge ammo in PvE, same goes for many players in PvP.

No MBTs save for the Challengers have decent side armor. The only advantage the Leos have is that the 2A5 and 2A6 side armor is super troll against autocannons and can only be penetrated by sub-200mm pen autocannons below the skirt, where the road wheels are. All Abrams as well as Russian MBTs up to the T-90 can be easily penetrated anywhere on the side armor by autocannons. That doesn't mean that you have better survivability against autocannon enemies in PvE; PvE enemies don't follow rules of the game and the laws of physics.

The T-72s suck ass, so if you are looking to up your game in the agility department, the T-80 will be a great tank for you as it is no T-72. If you want uncompromising armor however, nothing save for the Challengers will satisfy you. The basic Leopard 2 has some very meh frontal armor that is hardly an improvement over the 2AV, whose lower plate (and even upper plate in Hard PvE!) is a notorious and unbelievably large weakspot.

Is the M2 Bradley better in the armor department? And how quickly can I fire the second missile in that? Problem is I am already down the BMP path.

105mm vs 120mm is irrelevant in this game. The L7-armed Abrams does just fine. The 125mm 2A46-armed T-72 might have high alpha damage but even compared to vehicles like the M60A3 the penetration is laughably bad. I played the M1-105 back in days of the incorrect turret model which made it super easy to hit the turret ring; even then, I considered the M1 easily the only MBT at tier 7 that had a great mix of agility, defence and firepower. I recently re-purchased my fully unlocked M1 for credit farming purposes. The M1A1 and M1A2 are godly in the right hands (me being the proud owner of a fully fledged M1A1 since many months ago, and Griev having switched to the M1A2 from the Leopard line and finding it a decent T9).

The Challenger 2 is a great tank, save for its lousy penetration that sometimes fails to get through the T-90MS lower plate. It has great gun handling and decent maneuverability for such an imposing and well-protected tank. The Challenger 1, however, does not earn my respect. That machine has godly armor...but only when sealclubbing lower tiers. Anyone in a formidable same-tier like the Abrams will know how to take on a Challenger. It's not that hard. Not to mention that the old Challenger has absolutely atrocious handling overall relating to acceleration (stock engine), top speed and turret handling, unlike the Challenger 2.

Not that it should really matter since you're well-committed to Shishkin already. Grinding lower tier Wolfli MBTs is a nightmare. Leopard 1 is mediocre at best (and unlike WoT and WT the Leopard 1 has some of the shittiest gun stats in this game), OF-40's only saving grace is its HEAT rounds, 1A5 is a downgrade in every aspect from the OF-40; M60 might have great armor but shoots virtual paintballs, the Starship is hardly even an MBT. However, the American tree begins to improve at Tier 5. The M60A3 is a great jack-of-all-trades vehicle, upgrading to the XM1 which undoubtedly has some of the most impressive armor at tier 6, and we've already discussed the M1.

You will not be doing the BMP line justice unless you play it through. It contains a mix of many different playstyles throughout the tiers and it makes sense to explore them all before you try to move to the BMD tree. The Bradley's armor is like the Warrior's; it looks good on paper, until you remember that both are manufactured from aluminum giving all the stats a 0.90x multiplier. It is sloped and somewhat rounded, meaning that the Bradley armor does troll autocannons and some high caliber rounds, just like the VFM, but that is no licence to muck around and play recklessly. The dual TOW is nice, and if IIRC the downtime between each of the missiles is not too long (DEFINITELY faster than any of the BMPT vehicles)

In comparison, the BMD line features only 2 types of vehicles. #1 is the cautious, hard-hitting AFV with absolutely no armor (all the BMDs/Bradley/Warrior) and #2 is the heavy BMPT with braggable armor that sits there and spams as much autocannon damage as it possibly can before having to reload.


If you still have qualms about Challenger 2 penetration, ask @GreiverBlade ...he's managed to make Challenger 2's Charm3 APFSDS (bad penetration) and M1A2's M830 HEAT-MP (terrible penetration) work in ways that I cannot do for the life of me.

Thanks. I will reconsider the American line. But once I get up to the later Leopard 2s it should be fairly decent? I know all vehicles will have their quirks and shortcomings for sake of balance. Kind of leaning towards something unique, because I play Abrams/T-series in many games.

the lower pen is not an issue ... you should see me playing the chally 2 or other with a "sh!tty" pen, also stop worrying about missiles, after tier 6 you get more ERA and APS (Active Protection System) which need way more work to make ATGM efficient the point on having autocannon+ATGM is to fire the ATGM in between two AC clip to negate the loss in dpm during reload, just like the HE spam/quickfire ATGM with the combo AC+ATGM or 30mm+100mm on BMP/BMD.

aye aye true that ... getting a "we lit them up" or ammorack (lightning up a chally2 for 2000~ dmg is quite fun on the second ammorack hit) is quite common with me with the CHARM3, or i can get a full damage (even critical) on a XM1A3 Leo 2A7-140 full front recently, same goes for the M830 HEAT-MP getting down a 2A6 front by only sniping the driver's hatch is my hobby ...

these two are good example of a nice chally2 match


let's say i am good at overcoming shortcoming ... (@burebista is also an excelent example of that, and @tabascosauz specialty is BMP/BMD/Termi/Warrior well AFV type ... )

sometime i do a huuuuge jump and almost no dmg (tho i land in a downhill slope) or a lot of dmg if i fell flat which is a bit logical, but the extent is overboard

Still on the T-72A. Seems like I am hardly getting any cash, especially if I loose a match. The negative is in the $27K range on a T-72A. Have some upgrades to go and only $1 million in credits. Only 20% there to a T-80. Although with the T-72A and BMP-2 I got some kills in a PvP. I'd say they are enough to be useful now. Not sure if I should move to the BMP-3, as the cost, especially with upgrades, is rather high. Credits is really the shortcoming for me. At least we get 150K for daily challenges now.

Still not too sure about the Leopard vs American line. The 2A5 looks like it has active protection and more armor by default, but the M1A1 can get a TUSK upgrade and something else. I suppose it ends up being roughly the same, in the end, but the Leopard 2A5 will just have more armor once I initially unlock it? I suppose it comes down to personal preference really.

Also, a quick question on reinstalling the game. Going to be upgrading to Win 10 soon. Rather than redownload/reinstall it, is it possible continue using the same install with a new OS? I have two SSDs which I use for games/programs, so my plan is to simply cut it to the other drive, wipe my OS drive with a clean install and run Armored Warfare from there. I know BF4/DCS should work without reinstalling, so I plan on doing that for those two games (140GB + in downloads saved!). Again, not having to redownload/reinstall this game would save me some time getting up and running again.
