ASRock Extreme Series Mobo Feedback/Experiences

I am currently scouting for a mobo for my planned Ivy Bridge build hopefully by June... I'm looking at ASRock Extreme 6 for my mobo since I think this is the best "bang for the buck" around so far compared to other brands with similar specs/features... Would love Asus but it's a little more pricey... :shadedshu

So how's this series kickin'? Can this be considered tried and tested? How about ASRock mobo's in general? :rockout:

I have herd many compliments on the extreme series of motherboards. Newegg has the Extreme3 Gen3 for like 109$ shipped!

I've heard mised reviews, some of the boards are great, others.... not so much. But you do get a lot of features for the price it seems.

Asrock offers a new bios for Ivy, etc.

But it is quite revamped with some options. and now the Mouse issue is solved, so it works!

This is for my Extreme6 but I suppose more boards get these bios improvements.

I had a negative experience with my previous ASRock mobo, but it may have been as a result of a bad PSU (Corsair 750 watt) or molex connector.

Hit and miss.

I've got a 2500k paired with an extreme 3 gen 3 right now. After the RAM slot on the first board decided to die, I RMA'd it for another (from Asrock). They seem to do more testing if it's an RMA replacement, but less for new boards.

As far as features, I can't complain. It's a little light on the OC side, but a solid performer (especially for the price).

Got a 2500k on a Z77 Fatality Performance and Im loving it. Heaps of overclocking features. Being my first overclock on a Sandy and Z77 platform I had to do alot of reading to get to know the board and its features. Overall Im very happy with this Asrock.

I have a couple of ASRock boards. I am still using my Z68 Extreme 4 and have no issues with it.. Running a 2500k OC to 4.4ghz with 1.35 volts. Stable running Prime 95 for over 3 hrs, also IBT stable for 20 runs at high settings..

I also have a ASRock 970 Extreme 3 AMD board used with a FX 4100 CPU, I had problems with the Sata port at first, But did a bio update and driver update and solved problem.

I sold the CPU, but still have the board..

AsRock have really come a long way the past 2 or 3 years.

Boards are about as reliable as any other really, if you get a fault it's not cos t's Asrock it's because it's bad luck :laugh:

They have really great performance for the price.

For example the previous incarnation of my rig was a 1055t and the cheapest dual pci-e Asrock board I could find ( £35 , which made it £30 less than other boards with similar spec)

Whilst I couldn't over volt due to only a 4+1 phase design I had a massively overclocked FSB to achieve great ram speeds as well as decent clock speeds.

3.64ghz with boost up to 4.2 ghz, all from a tiny cheap board! ( I did change some heatsinks to be fair) it's still going strong with same speeds for a friend of mine now : ]

The only ASROCK board that I didn't like for OCing was the Z68 Pro3-M due to the LOW power phase but light OCing (stock voltage 4.3Ghz) it was rock stable.

I recently just got an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 and couldn't be happier. the extreme6 has beefed up heatsinks and a couple more features and is slightly bigger (the extreme4 is like 3/4" narrower for cost saving). I am a big fan... definitely for the feature set the best bang for the buck.

I have the z68 extreme7... it is my first asrock board and after using this for the last 7 months I would definitely get another.

I bought it because of features and layout for tri-sli.

after updating the bios (ver 2.0 to 3.10) in my fatal1ty p67 board, the voltage regulator has been running wild, my sandy 2600k temp on idle was normal at around 32*c, but with ibt testing, the full load temp was running crazy at around 89/90*c,

did you happen to reset the UEFI/Bios before updating to the newer rev?
