Havent posted here in a long time, and since I lost my job back 10 months ago and sold my i7 2600 computer I could only "READ" about all this new hardware However Ive been able to save a little up and am going to build myself a nice little 3820 i7 computer and am looking for your opinions on these 2 motherboard choices. I cant spend more then 260$ and both boards seem to have decent reviews, but im REALLY leaning toward the Asrock board (Little scared tho, never owned an Asrock board before) Any input would be great guys, thanks!

I understand that. I'm just saying mine is a great board, and the one you are looking at is probably a similar board with extra features removed. It would be a great board, no doubt.

Same here, I paid the extra for the P9X79 Deluxe and I've been loving it. Honestly, if you're going to build a SB-E rig, don't skimp on the motherboard, if you can't afford all decent parts for an enthusiast build, I recommend going with IVB/SB, not SB-E.
I've also had huge issues with Asrock motherboards in the past which has kept me away from them ever since the LGA775 Pentium 4 days (I used to have a 620 a very long time ago.)

thanks guys for your replies! Really appreciate ya... I was hoping you would say asrock would be ok, cause im just thinking all the stuff that comes with it would be useful.... I cant seem to find a decent review of this asus board, does anyone know if one is out there on the interwebz???

I know that Cadaveca did a review on what I have, which is the top of the line P9X79 board. The pro has a couple less features, but the regular P9X79 is very gimped wrt the features it has to offer. Honestly, the pro is the best deal, and the deluxe has bells and whistles if you want to pay for it.
I can't over emphasize that cheeping out on a SB-E rig is not a good idea and if you want a good bang for the buck platform, LGA1155 has what you want. LGA2011 is intended for power users who are willing to pay the extra money for Intel's top line of hardware. Budget build and X79 do not go in the same sentence if you're going to do it right. The platform is too pricey to take that risk.

I agree with you 100%, thanks for your replies. I think I found my board of choice, and I didnt mention this board yet, and seems to have great features.... The Gigabyte UD5 X79 board..... Im really diggin the specs on it, would you recommend this board?

Id go asus myself, I was going to try Asrock but I dont like the gay ass picture in the bios and boot up screen, a pic of a guy? common Asrock get real haha... but that's just my opinion. either way you cant go wrong with those mobo's

ASUS P9X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 A...
The baseline P9X79 at least it a full ATX board with 8 dimm slots instead of 4. It also costs less. I'm just saying the pro is the best deal between quality and price.
