We all know who Fatal1ty is. If you don't, what rock have you been under? The original pro gamer's take on Intel's Z170 chipset is provided by none other than ASRock, known for crazy things like motherboards that support 22 hard drives. What happens when the two meet and take gaming needs, not your budget, to the limit?

"KillerNIC has a weird "bad" reputation"

What is this all about?
Check out the comment section of nearly any other board with a KIllerNIC. Lots of people have hate for the software for these LAN controllers, so much so we have a fairly large thread here on our forum dedicated to replacing said software.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Great read per usual Dave!!!

But you guys really need to ditch your number scoring system... or at minimum make it less granular (get rid of 'tenths' - because there is no way in hell you can justify differences quantitatively between a X.y and a X.z) :)

(also, I am not trying to heave stones from a glass house.. we need to work on ours too, LOL!)

I am working on revamping my reviews. W1zz has a new graph layout, and there has been countless changes behind the scenes recently. Scoring... I understand. There is much to consider... is a 9.7 board priced @ $199 better than a 9.6 board that costs $500? Or does the score reflect the OEM's correct or missed implementations targeted towards a specific audience? Right now its a mix of both. Should we even be comparing a $100 board to a $1000 board?

Yeah soooooo many variables, its tough to do. We are expanding from Fail/MEH/Approved to adding at least one more (Editors Choice or something along those lines). Certainly not perfect, but it is a lot easier to differentiate between an approved board and meh/fail than to deal with tenths of points or even whole points for that matter.

Point systems are useless if you don't have reasons defined for docking points.

Right, and the crux of the problem. I do have defined reasons, but they aren't explicitly listed within each review.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
not bad ... ASRock is getting good with the time, tho it's around the price point of my GA-Z170X-Gaming 5 it offer the same features (minus some extra goodies for the GA) pack 2x m.2 a lesser VRM phase (tho it's not really a problem) the same NIC (not totally the same it's a killer E2201) but also a Intel NIC in addition.

well i can't say i like the Killer Network Manager software but using both LAN port seems to works fine (no teaming ofc)

nice review as usual @cadaveca :toast:

funny ... Fatal1ty has now the same logo as Max steel??? can't say that it's not strangely similar to Steel ...

Good review. I can't wait to get mine going. It should be a sweet second system with the i7-6700K in it.
