Hello everyone, I am a nobie here on TPU and I just bought a nice Asrock Z68 second-hand. I was able to get it and the case it was in for only $20, because it had a few bent pins in the 1155 cpu socket. :ohwell: So I was able to reset all but 1 of 6-7 pins, that last one broke on me. :twitch: From the research I have done it, seems that the pin that failed on me, and the worst bent, was AG-5, sub-labeled SB-DQ(4), which indicates this pin is for the DDR3.
Am I out of luck if I can not repair it????

I do have these lovely P3s and their pins staring at me wanting to be used...hmmm.
Thank you in advance for all advice!!!

I am running that SAME board right now,,I wonder if You Could throw a CPU in and see if it Works. I bought One for another build(Same Ext 3 Gen3) that had bent LGA 1155 pin's, but I actually Got Asrock to take it back, and replace it. They'll probably repair it for a Fee, IF That's an option for You. I know For a Fact that they offered Me a Repair, But I insisted on a replacement. Try contacting them IF You haven't, Or maybe You could get 2 sticks , Instead of Four Working, (if the Pin is essential to the Memory)

I'm saved!!!!!
I just went to the very last page of the Sandy-Bridge-Datasheet-Volume-1.pdf, just to check again; and I found out "SB" is the designation for memory channel B!!!! I might be just fine!!! If not, I know a gold smith.... I just need the pin dimensions...... other than frikin' small; thank you very much peanut gallery.

Try contacting them
I got this board second hand, and he seems to have the warranty under him, and they probably said no, or Micro Center had to refuse, that's where he bought it. So I am either 1) Lucky as can be. 2) Got a problem I made to fix with expert help. or 3) Waiting for the money to get a replacement. The pin that broke had some how gotten curled backwards 180* and as I tried to straighten it, the pin work hardened (like a paperclip) and snapped.

UPDATE: I am fully operational with my Asrock Ex3 Gen3 and a Core i5-2500k. I have been running it during the day to do homework and some gaming since Saturday, May 18th and not a hiccup yet! I am not yet trying to run dual-channel memory settings yet, but I will try to set that up next week. Bent pins is not the end of the world. :)
