As it turns out with these GPUs, 59 to 68 FPS average (see the review) is right where it's really noticeable and appreciated, especially when you figure that 1% lows are 10fps lower than that. And the most demanding games are also in the 45 to 55fps level of improvement. This is where all those relatively small FPS improvements really make a difference.
I'll side with Lew Zealand here. My previous Ryzen 4700U laptop had a 100Hz non-VRR display so I was typically hoping to lock framerates to 50fps (half vsync) and keep them there.Well, if it matters to you personally, fine. I can't feel any difference between 45 and 55 FPS. If it was something like 30 to 55, then hell yes, but the difference we're talking about here is too small.
I created a 75, 85, 90, and 96Hz custom refresh rate and experimented with gaming at 38fps, 42fps, 45fps, and 48fps in the hopes that I wouldn't notice much difference and could run the laptop cooler or increase graphics quality but honestly, to me, the difference between each of those steps was pretty obvious and twitch(ish) games like Deep Rock Galactic really didn't feel great with less than 50.
I'm convinced people have a wide range of sensitivity to these things and also a wide range of how much change it takes for them to notice. 20% is the ballpark figure I normally use, but I disproved that by personally noticing and being unhappy with a 6% loss of fps.
