Hey guys!

So I've gone and got myself a pair of asus 1080ti founders edition cards and some ek titan pascal cooling blocks (plain as all hell). Now I see asus are about to release their poseidon cards and I'm kicking myself. What do I do?

I can return the water cooling free of charge, but returning the graphics cards will encure a fee of $275-580Nzd. I'd love to have a pair of Poseidons in the desk of mine... do you think I can apply the coolers to the founders edition cards?

Edit: An asus support rep did say this:

"It is not guaranteed to work, but you can definitely give it a shot. I understand how expensive these units can be."

If the Poseidon PCB is not the same layout as the FE edition, then no, it's not compatible. Given the additional requirements of a radiator, reservoir and pump for a Poseidon, I wouldnt waste my time on it.

Get a decent 240 radiator, res and pump for your ek blocks. Hell, get some nice lights for it if you want something 'pretty'.

EDIT- ah - i see the set up. Blocks still not compatible and it will obviously void warranty. I'd still go FE.

Those water blocks I have got are compatable as per EK instruction and those two photos are of my rig at the moment. I can go ahead with what I have got but ideally would love to have two Poseidons there. The water cooling I have is more than ample to contain the 3 gpus on the loop. :)

How would I find out if it's the same layout as the FE?

It's not. The physical PCB of the Posedion is larger so the layout will be different (more power phases etc). The Poseidon block won't work on an FE card in it's manufactured form.

but returning the graphics cards will encure a fee of $275-580Nzd.

if that restocking fee scares you, then you are going to buy the Poseidon cards anyway. they will be north of $900 a pop (pre tax!!) here in the US, and a lot more in new Zealand because you can't avoid paying sales tax there.

also, why the hell would you think that blocks made for custom PCBs would be compatible with reference/founders boards? when was this ever the case? the answer is no. a resounding hell no, in fact. the entire point of buying custom cards is to not buy reference cards. i hate to sound mean, but you are being very silly.

i would know what to choose if i have already a full water setup
