im trying to look around and find an answer about the card VRM, they get 90c up to 100c on load.

iv seen users with the same temps on VRM but could not find any reasonable Answer.
so, anyone know whats with those crazy temps?
is it safe?

I got the non-Ti version of the same card but i don't think i've reached that high temps on VRM, though it is normal on some cards.

is the card OCed? , maybe not getting enough airflow..

I'd say these temps are normal "and they are still within safe limits"

just ran a quick stress test and VRM got to 77c on auto, increased fan speed and temps dropped around 2~5c , considering you have the Ti version "fully unlocked GK110" and higher clocks than mine means it draws more power hence higher temps.
if you are still concerned about it and you have asus GPUTweak installed lower the GPU target temp to "70c for example" that will speed up the fans if on auto to meet that target temp, run a stress test and check

It's definitely not normal temp of VRM to be more than 5C less than GPU temp under normal condition for NVIDIA cards.
I don't know how VRM behave under extreme OC but I talk about some normal overclock. My GTX780Ti is 200MHz fabric overclocked and in benchmark test temp of VRM is about 10C less than GPU temp. With AMD cards is something different there temps are usually same or little higher and on few my Radeon cards, (reference) how you go higher with OC distance between VRM and GPU is higher. But reference cards and under 115C VRM Radeon work normal in same time that's about 90-92C on chip... But for NVIDIA I notice lower temps on VRM and I think and 80C on VRM is high temp for non reference NVIDIA. Special models with one fan special made to cool wide area. Example usually in benchmarks on my card temps are 69-73C and VRM about 58-60C. Similar distance is with GTX580, and my ex GTX780.
I recommend to check with HWInfo64 and minimize during 3D testing, about 20min and than check Max VRM temp. Because maybe some software show wrong.

Don't forget design differences, yours is an EVGA and he's got an ASUS , very different design, VRM's and cooling.
i agree its somewhat high but it is still within safe limits (anything OVER 100c is too high for me)

i dont trust any temperatures that are close to water boiling point no matter what temp range the components have!

On a DCII, which has one of the best air designs this seems way off to me!

(although i havent had any experience with the newer DCII coolers or newer cards, still seems too high)

Apparently this little heatsink is what's cooling them

OP seems gone too

I post only sec after you....

No VRM temps can't be more than 75-80C on overclocked card if temps on GPU is about 80-85C. Usually something under graphic chip.
Over 86-87C on chip is not good. Off course fan profile must be custom. If temps is really so high and it's not software mistake maybe this part not sit good. Little thicker adhesive tape maybe help.

Some people on NVIDIA Forum talk about high VRM temps on their cards and they saw on Guru3D review too.
I don't know is it true because maybe is software mistake, but some software will show VRM temp.

That heatsink is held in place by screws, so why not take it off, replace the thermal adhesive tape with some non-conductive thermal paste and see if that makes any difference. I think it should have an impact on the temps.

Can't even keep the count of how many threads I have seen about owners of high end Asus cards with DCUII coolers have terrible VRM temps in the past 2 years.

if any of you would had to choose between Asus GTX780TI-DC2OC or MSI GTX 780Ti GAMING
Which one would you go for?

MSI GTX780Ti Gaming have 1020MHz Base Clock that's higher clock and probably little higher result than GTX780Ti Matrix Platinum.
I would choose Gaming before DirectCU II but Matrix Platinum before MSI Gaming. But for GeForce always EVGA Classified. Maybe cost little more but you feel that on graphic card.
Nice look, nice speed, when you open box you don't think how much producer overprice product, cards really finest of all.
But if you choose MSI Gaming don't go on MSI Gaming LE, she have lower clock and I hear, I'm not sure is it that true, that's same as Gaming version only MSI drop clock.

i have both ASUS cards: GTX 780 DC2OC and GTX 780Ti DC2OC
780 have a GPU/VRM = 70/75*C OCed without vcore increase and fan mode auto ~1100-1800rpm ASIC ~80% on SLI 2-way config
on single card config this have 65/70*C
780Ti have a GPU/VRM = 80/85*C OCed without vcore increase and fan mode auto ASIC ~70%
780 Poseidon on AIR without H2O have bad temperatures compare 780 DC2OC cards but better than 780Ti DC2OC ASIC ~75% (on air this card between 780 and 780Ti)
i mean low asic cards have a higher temperatures GPU/VRM.
And it is all about 28*C ambient temperature.
up to 100c on load.
but this isnt normal. or your card have 50% ASIC

Why are you mentioning ASIC quality in a thread about VRM temp? They have nothing to do with each other.

OP I would RMA the card.

Give more power to the fans, the stock default rpm fan profile is slow so you can say the card is whisper quiet.

But off course you pay the quietness with higher temperatures.

The reality is different i had that card and i Always set a custom fan rpm profile and i keep temperatures stay below 70 degrees on load.

Deal with the noise or open your case and leave it open because that card performs better when is out than inside a case.

LOL doesn't card manufacturers flash a specific voltage/bios according to the asic/voltage leak in order to control temps and stability?!

VRM temp issues usually come down to a faulty module, faulty PSU or rail, poor contact, poor airflow, or something else the PC fairies decide.

The official response is to use GPU Tweak to increase the fan speed? Asus is losing my respect.

EDIT: Should've kept reading. RMA it.
